Memorial Day is Monday, May 27, honoring those who lost their lives serving in the military. The following activities are planned in Oakland County:

Auburn Hills

• The American Legion Post 143 Memorial Day Parade is 11 a.m. May 27, starting at Avondale High School, 2800 Waukegan St., Auburn Hills, then north on Squirrel Road to Aaron Webster Cemetery, 150 S. Squirrel Road, for a ceremony. The ceremony includes the dedication of the new Mother’s plaque monument and veterans memorial, and new monuments for local KIA interred at the cemetery and one for all veterans interred there. There will be a Post 143 wreath laying ceremony. The Auburn Hills Police Department Honor Guard will give a gun salute and play Taps. A flyover is scheduled by the Tuskegee Airmen. RAM is the official truck of the parade and picnic and the Raminator will return to the parade and picnic this year. Stellantis Veterans Group sponsors the snow cone truck and bounce house. • Berkley American Legion Post 374 will participate in a ceremony at 11 a.m., May 27, at the Berkley Veterans Memorial at the gazebo at 3338 Coolidge Hwy. and Post 374 at noon, at 2079 W. Twelve Mile Road, 248-542-7668.

Beverly Hills

• The Annual Memorial Day Parade begins at 11 a.m. May 27, at Groves High School, 20500 W. 13 Mile Road to north on Evergreen Road to east Beverly Road to Beverly Park for activities, music, food trucks. A Memorial Day ceremony is at 1 p.m. at the flagpole, www.villagebeverlyhills.com.

• Beverly Hills Lions Club Fun Run/Walk, four-mile, begins at 9 a.m. and two-mile walk begins at 9:05 a.m. May 27, from Beverly Elementary, 18305 Beverly Road through Beverly Hills and back to Beverly Elementary. Birmingham

Bloomfield Hills

Clarkston

• Clarkston American Legion Post 63 will host the Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m. at the Lakeview Cemetery, 6150 White Lake Road. The event includes the Color Guard performing a rifle volley, raising of the flag and the playing of Taps, the Clarkston High School Band and Ladies in Mourning in period clothing laying flowers on graves. Farmington/Farmington Hills

• The Farmington and Farmington Hills Memorial Day Parade is 10 a.m. May 27, near the intersection of Grand River Avenue and Orchard Lake Road and will travel west on Grand River and end at Oakland Street, where a ceremony will take place at the Farmington War Memorial Monument in Memorial Park, memorialdayparade.us.

Ferndale

• The Ferndale Memorial Day Parade, one of the oldest Memorial Day celebrations in Michigan, begins at 10 a.m. May 27, at Livernois and Maplehurst, north to Oakridge, west to Pinecrest, south to 9 Mile, east to Livernois, south to the Memorial Mall at approximately 11 a.m. for the ceremony, 248-227-1225, facebook.com/FerndaleMemorialParade. • The Village of Holly Memorial Day Parade begins at 10 a.m. May 27, at Saginaw and Maple streets in downtown Holly, turning east onto Maple, north onto Park Avenue to Lakeside Memorial Cemetery for a ceremony, with luncheon to follow at American Legion Post 149, 408 Saginaw St. 810-348-9960.

Keego Harbor

• The Keego Harbor Memorial Day Ceremony is at 9:30 a.m. May 27, at Veterans Memorial Plaza, at the corner of Cass Lake and Orchard Lake Roads, followed by the Memorial Day Parade at 10 a.m. The parade starts at the north end of Keego Harbor at Beachland Blvd. and Cass Lake Road and heads south on Cass Lake to Beland Avenue. Lake Orion

• The City of Novi to host dinner for veterans and a guest at 5:30 p.m. May 22, at Fuerst Park, Ten Mile and Taft Road, followed by patriotic concert and memorial ceremony with a wreath laying, playing of “Taps”, 21-gun salute, and a moment of silence to remember those who were lost, and then a flag honor walk to commemorate service members. • VFW Post 582 to host Ortonville’s Memorial Day parade at 9:30 a.m. May 27, starting at the corner of Church and Mill Streets, the Old Town Hall and ending at the Ortonville Cemetery, 175 N. Ortonville Road (M-15), for the ceremony at the Veterans Monument. Civil War reenactors will be in the parade to honor the 50 Civil War veterans in the Ortonville Cemetery. • The City of Troy to host Salute Our Fallen Veterans Memorial Day Ceremony, at 10 a.m. May 27 at Veterans Memorial Plaza in front of Troy City Hall, 500 W. Big Beaver Road, Troy. The event includes keynote speaker Major Kyle A. ”Brail” Bruckner, the Troy Heritage Concert Band, the raising of the colors by the Troy Police Department Honor Guard, and the laying of a Memorial Wreath.
