MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. >> Argentina won its second straight Copa America championship, overcoming Lionel Messi’s second-half leg injury to beat Colombia 1-0 Sunday night on Lautaro Martínez’s 112th-minute goal.
Messi appeared to sustain a non-contact injury while running and falling in the 64th minute and covered his face with his hands when he sat on the bench. Martínez later ran to that bench to hug his captain after the goal that propelled Argentina to its record 16th Copa title.

Star of Ravens’ SB win over 49ers has died at age 40 >> Former NFL receiver Jacoby Jones, whose 108-yard kickoff return in 2013 remains the longest touchdown in Super Bowl history, has died. He was 40.
The Houston Texans, Jones’ team for the first five seasons of his career, announced his death Sunday. There was no immediate word on a cause of death.
Jones played from 2007-15 for the Texans, Baltimore Ravens, San Diego Chargers and Pittsburgh Steelers, and he made several huge plays for the Ravens during their most recent Super Bowl title season.
In the Super Bowl that postseason against San Francisco, Jones caught a 56-yard TD pass from eventual game MVP Joe Flacco. Then he raced 108 yards to the end zone to open the second half and give Baltimore a 28-6 lead. The Ravens held on for a 34-31 victory.

MacIntyre wins his national open in Scotland >> Robert MacIntyre won an Open that felt like a major to him when he made a 22-foot birdie putt on the final hole for a 3-under 67 to win the Scottish Open, becoming the first Scot in 25 years to win his national open.
MacIntyre seized on a huge break on the par-5 16th when he realized he was standing on a sprinkler head in rough so deep he could barely see his golf ball. He received a free drop in shorter grass and blasted his approach from 248 yards to 6 feet for eagle to tie Adam Scott for the lead.
His birdie putt took one last turn before falling, and MacIntyre dropped his putter and turned to a delirious Scottish gallery with a sweeping uppercut to celebrate.
Furue wins Evian >> Ayaka Furue of Japan made a late charge to win the Evian Championship with an eagle on the last hole to clinch her first major title.
The 24-year-old Furue held her nerve with another clinical putt, having made three birdies in the previous four holes to finish on 19 under overall.
Furue placed one stroke ahead of Australian Stephanie Kyriacou, the overnight leader, and two ahead of Thailand’s Patty Tavatanakit — who made a superb 8-under 63 in the final round to move into contention for her second major.
Els wins the Kaulig Companies Championship >> Ernie Els won the Kaulig Companies Championship for his first senior major title, closing with a 2-under 68 for a one-stroke victory over Y.E. Yang at breezy Firestone.
A stroke behind defending champion Steve Stricker entering the round, Els rebounded to par the final two holes after hitting in the water and making a bogey on the par-5 16th.
“It was a nerve wracking final couple of holes,” Els said. “I got to the 17th tee and I saw Y.E. go to 9 under, so now I’m thinking, ‘Don’t screw this up even more now.’”
Els became the PGA Tour Champions’ first three-time winner this season, winning for the sixth time on the 50-and-over tour.
Fish wins American Century >> Former tennis player Mardy Fish won the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament for the second time, holding off NHL player and San Jose Shark Joe Pavelski by four points.
The 42-year-old Fish had a 26-point round at Edgewood Tahoe under the modified Stableford scoring system to finish at 83, one short of the record set by Billy Joe Tolliver in 2010. Players receive a point for par, three for birdie and six for eagle and two points are deducted for double bogey or worse.
