Davis Musical Theatre Company (DMTC) is pleased to present the emotionally powerful musical, “The Last Five Years.” The musical opens on Friday, July 18, and runs through Sunday, July 27, at the Jean Henderson Performing Arts Center, 607 Pena Dr., #10, in Davis.
The show features music, book, and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown.
Directed by Kyle Jackson, with musical direction by Jacob Fennell, the story explores a five-year relationship between Jamie Wellerstein, a rising novelist, and Cathy Hiatt, a struggling actress. The show uses a form of storytelling in which Jamie’s story is told in chronological order (starting just after the couple have first met) and Cathy’s story is told in reverse chronological order (beginning the show at the end of the marriage). The characters do not directly interact except for a wedding song in the middle as their timelines intersect.
This talented cast features Isabella Paragas as Hiatt and Matthew Draper as Wellerstein.
The show is a special one-act with no intermission. You are invited to arrive an hour early for cocktails and concessions.
“The Last 5 Years” plays July 18 through July 27, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and on Sundays at 2 p.m.
All performances are at the Jean Henderson Performing Arts Center, 607 Pena Dr. in Davis. Tickets and Reserved Seating are $20 for General and $18 for Students and Seniors (age 55 and up). Tickets can be purchased online at dmtc.org or by calling (530) 756-3682 (there is a $2 facility fee per ticket). Come experience this special, fascinating event. We hope to see you there!
