Jack Hughes scored at 4:06 of overtime and the visiting New Jersey Devils beat the Montreal Canadiens 4-3 on Saturday night.

Jake Allen made 29 saves in his first regular-season start against the Canadiens since being traded by Montreal to the Devils on March 8, 2024.

Nico Hischier, Jesper Bratt and Tomas Tatar also scored for the Devils, who won their second straight game after losing nine of their previous 11.

Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield and Alexandre Carrier scored for the Canadiens.

The Devils played their first game without starting goalie Jacob Markstrom, who sustained an MCL strain during New Jersey’s win over Boston on Wednesday. He is expected to miss between four and six weeks.

FLAMES 5, WILD 4: Andrei Kuzmenko had two goals and an assist, and Calgary used its power play to beat host Minnesota.

Kuzmenko and Rasmus Andersson each had a power-play goal.

The Wild lost for the fifth time in six games.

RED WINGS 2, LIGHTNING 0: Cam Talbot stopped 28 shots for his second shutout of the season as Detroit blanked visiting Tampa Bay.

Marco Kasper redirected J.T. Compher’s shot at 9:55 of the second, and Michael Rasmussen scored an empty-netter in the final minute.

SENATORS 2, MAPLE LEAFS 1: Shane Pinto scored the tiebreaker midway through the third and Ottawa won at home against Toronto.

STARS 2, BLUES 0: Evgenii Dadonov had a goal and an assist, Casey DeSmith stopped 33 shots and Dallas won at St. Louis.

Esa Lindell scored a power-play goal as Dallas won for the seventh time in its last nine road games.

BRUINS 3, AVALANCHE 1: David Pastrnak had a goal and two assists, and Boston beat visiting Colorado.

Pastrnak set up both of Morgan Geekie’s goals in the third period.

OILERS 3, SABRES 2: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored two goals to help Edmonton edge visiting Buffalo.

Edmonton moved into first place in the Pacific Division, one point up on the idle Vegas Golden Knights.

The Oilers (31-15-3) played without captain Connor McDavid, who completed his three-game suspension for cross-checking Vancouver’s Conor Garland a week ago.

KRAKEN 4, PENGUINS 1: Vince Dunn scored the go-ahead goal late in the second period as Seattle won at home over Pittsburgh.

Dunn’s goal came on a 5-on-3 power play and broke a 1-1 tie.

ISLANDERS 3, HURRICANES 2 (OT): Brock Nelson scored 2:03 into overtime and host New York rallied to beat Carolina, which had its four-game winning streak snapped.
