Name calling during a crisis is never acceptable

While in California homes are burning to the ground and people are dying, the future president could not help himself (can he ever) and took to social media. In his post he referred to California’s governor as Gavin “Newscum.” This is not the first time Trump has referred to the governor in this juvenile, name calling manner and I am sure it will not be the last. Trump was blaming the governor for the Los Angeles fires being “ZERO” percent contained and inferred that on January 20 this would not happen. At the same time, Donald Jr. took to social media and blamed DEI programs for people dying in the fires.

The level of ignorance and insensitivity in this man who will soon become president, again, is unbelievable. While lives are lost and people’s homes and life’s possessions are in flames, the man who will be soon be the leader of the free world resorts to name calling and mocking (apparently these disgusting traits run in the family). Trump’s lack of empathy and compassion are stunning — as is this country’s persistence to elect someone with qualities most of us find repulsive.

Name calling and belittling during a crisis of life and death is never acceptable — I hope Trump’s supporters will demand from him a kinder, gentler four years. But I will not hold my breath.
