Tiburon’s Main Street will be closed to traffic from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday for the third annual Tiburon Caviar Crawl, a spirited celebration of National Caviar Day.

More than 20 shops, restaurants and bars will dish up caviar bites, accompaniments, drink pairings and exclusive offers at tasting stations and pop-ups throughout town. Ticketholders get a map, or Roe-deo Roster, to navigate the stops, plus a souvenir cup for on-the-go libations.

Event host The Caviar Co., which opened its tasting room and champagne lounge at 46A Main St. in 2021, will offer mini Moët sippers from a champagne vending machine and 40% off all caviar and roe for dine-in or take-home purchases.

Stop by Highlow Larder, the new tabletop and kitchen lifestyle shop, for a live jamón ibérico carving demonstration by La Cortadora, served with Siberian sturgeon caviar.

Pick up a limoncello shaved ice, snow cone and caviar bump at Sam’s Anchor Cafe, or swing by Malibu Farm for deviled eggs topped with trout roe.

Caffe Acri will offer crème fraîche gelato with hackleback caviar, while Bungalow Kitchen will have mini caviar funnel cakes on the menu.

At Cinelounge, guests can snack on popcorn and caviar nibbles, paired with wine selections and live music. Squalo Vino will serve cornbread caviar canapés and offer a complimentary tote with the purchase of a glass of wine.

Hampton Water Rosé will host an outdoor lounge with wine tasting, caviar bumps and a DJ. Main Street Mercantile and Tremolo Wine will team up for a “sip and shop” pop-up featuring wine pours, caviar bites and Western wear.

Sample more caviar-centric food, drinks and activities at Salt & Pepper Restaurant; In Good Taste; Petite Left Bank; Dara + Ames Real Estate Group; Collected Studio; Pilates Tiburon Firon Fitness; Eva Claiborne; Jeunesse Tiburon; Lazyjack Press; and Fiorla.

A few family-friendly activities open to all include a corn dog and caviar pop-up; build-your-own bandana charm station by Mandriana Bandanas; petting zoo; tie-dye station; oversized games; “Roe-deo” photo booth; and music from Golden Bell, a DJ and live fusion band.

Tiburon resident Petra Higby and her sister, Saskia Bergstein, founders of The Caviar Co., launched their San Francisco-based business and retail shop on Union Street in 2015.

Their goal was to make caviar feel more approachable and fun, stripping away the pretense while keeping the luxury intact.

In 2021, they expanded to Tiburon with a tasting room and champagne lounge, and two years later, brought their National Caviar Day festivities to Marin.

Tickets for both the Tiburon Caviar Crawl ($50 to $396.55) and the San Francisco celebration ($283.25 to $396.55) are available at thecaviarco.com. The San Francisco event takes place from 7 to 10 p.m. July 19 at Saint Joseph’s Arts Society at 1401 Howard St. and features caviar bars, craft cocktails, champagne, beer, wine, canapés, a pizza station and entertainment.

Also celebrating National Caviar Day is fast-casual Chinese American restaurant Mamahuhu, with locations in downtown Mill Valley and San Francisco’s Inner Richmond and Noe Valley neighborhoods.

On July 18, it’s teaming up for the second year with California sturgeon farm and caviar producer Tsar Nicoulai to bring back a special one-day “Double Happiness Meal,” a playful spin on both McDonald’s signature kids’ Happy Meal and the traditional Chinese character for “double happiness,” a symbol often seen at Chinese weddings to represent joy and good fortune.

The limited offering includes Mamahuhu’s fish sandwich served with a half-ounce of Tsar Nicoulai’s white sturgeon caviar, with optional Lapsang tea-smoked or tea-brined trout roe add-ons.

Mamahuhu is at 173 Throckmorton Ave. in Mill Valley. For more information, visit eatmamahuhu.com.
