A McLaren Health Care facility in the Clarkston area is providing uninsured women with a free clinical breast exam on Thursday, Oct. 24.

The McLaren Clarkston Comprehensive Breast Center will provide the exam from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to women age 40 and older without health insurance and who have not had a mammogram in the past year.

The center is at 5701 Bow Pointe Drive, Suite 280, in Independence Township. Make an appointment by calling 248-922-6635 ext. 1.

The center is providing the exam to build awareness for early detection during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

A referral for followup care will be provided for women whose exams discover anything suspicious.

“We believe it is our duty as stewards for our community’s health and wellbeing to create accessibility to care,” said Lorenzo Suter, McLaren Oakland president and CEO.

“When considering the potential lifesaving importance of a breast cancer screening and early diagnosis, this task becomes all the more critical, and we are proud to be in the position to offer this event.”
