San Marin High ace Taylor Testa and San Rafael ace Thomara Drummer battled it out for the second time this season on Wednesday with the Mustangs scoring twice in the top of the eighth inning to pull out a 4-2 victory.

San Marin (11-5, 6-2 MCAL) swept the season series, having won the league opener between the two teams 2-1. The Mustangs moved into a three-way tie for first place with the result.

San Marin scored the go-ahead run on an error then got a single by Tessa Christian to extend the eighth inning. Avery Bishop hit an RBI groundout to push the lead to 4-2. Testa had two hits for San Marin and Amanda Postel drove in two runs. Testa went all eight innings with six hits and two earned runs against seven strikeouts.

The top three hitters in San Rafael’s lineup — Sophia Everett, Thomara Drummer, and Gabby Rodriguez — had two hits apiece. Everett hit a pair of solo home runs for the Bulldogs (6-9, 4-4).

Drummer pitched eight innings with nine hits and four runs (three earned) against seven strikeouts.

• Morgan Carlson had a pair of hits, an RBI, and scored three times as Marin Catholic took advantage of five Redwood errors in an 8-1 victory on Wednesday. MC (10-4, 5-3) scored four times in the second, two in the fourth, and two in the sixth despite being limited to four hits. Malliah Foster pithed seven innings, holding Redwood to three hits and an unearned runs while striking out seven. Kait Christensen drove in the lone run for the Giants (10-7, 6-2).

• Paige Murphy hit a three-run homer to break a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fifth for Archie Williams in a 10-0 victory against Novato on Wednesday. The Peregrine Falcons (12-4, 6-2) scored five times in the fifth and five more in the sixth to end the game. Murphy had two hits, drove in four, and scored twice. Lila James added three hits and two RBIs. Parker Conrad hit a two-run triple. Murphy held Novato to one hit and struck out six. Pitcher Claire Hannan kept the Hornets (4-13, 0-8) in the game by holding Archie Williams scoreless for the first four innings.

• Eden Clark had two hits, three RBIs and pitched five shutout innings to lead Tam to a 17-0 win against Terra Linda on Wednesday. Clark limited the Trojans (8-6, 2-6) to two hits while striking out seven. Ava Lee, Elisa Cobb, and Melissa Ferrety all drove in two runs apiece for Tam (9-4, 4-4).

• San Domenico junior Delaney Whaley was solid at the plate in the Panthers’ four-inning 18-4 victory over Cornerstone Christian on Tuesday. Whaley was 3-for-4 with a double to drive in three runs and score three more for the first-place Panthers (4-3, 4-0 BCL West). Junior Wren Wilcox was 3 for 3 with a triple and a walk to go with three runs and two RBIs. San Domenico pitchers Rory Brunetti and Marin Louie combined to strike out 11 batters.

Boys tennis

After the two teams evenly split singles play, San Marin edged Archie Williams High in doubles for a 4-3 victory Tuesday.

The Peregrine Falcons’ Ryan Cunningham and Julian Scheidelman won a tough 3-6, 7-5, 10-7 match at No. 2 doubles. The Mustangs’ Arseniy Korolev and Michael Reid held on for a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles, and San Marin’s Milo Reyes and Rowan Croft won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles.

Prep baseball

Hunter Uriarte drove in three runs as San Marin survived a wild, back-and-forth game and pulled out an 11-10 victory against Granite Bay in the Boras Baseball Classic on Wednesday.

San Marin (10-6) scored four times to take a 4-1 lead in the top of the second. Granite Bay led 6-4 through four innings. San Marin inched in front 7-6 in the top of the fifth but Granite Bay scored two more in the bottom of the frame. San Marin scored three in the top of the seventh then held on after Granite Bay scored twice in the bottom of the inning.

Daniel Rolovich drove in two runs for the Mustangs. Joey Cippolina, Tyler Keehn, and Aidan Whitmore had two hits apiece.

• San Domenico’s Sam Tavano threw 4.1 solid innings, but the Panthers were overmatched in Tuesday’s 14-1 loss to BCL-West rival University (14-1, 5-0 BCL-West)at Albert Park. Tavano allowed just three earned runs. The Panthers (5-7, 1-2) scored on a sacrifice fly by Julian Mackler.

College baseball

Dante Caiati had a triple and a home run among his three hits as College of Marin stretched its win streak to 10 games with a 6-1 victory against Solano on Tuesday. Former Novato High standout Derek Bartram started the scoring with an RBI single in the first. Solano tied the game in the second but Caiati untied it with a two-run homer in the fourth. COM (25-9-1, 15-1 Bay Valley) added three runs in the last two innings to pull away.

Boys golf

Oskar Valiagua shot a 1-under 35 at TPC Harding Park on Tuesday to lead San Domenico to a 184-232 victory over BCL-West foe Urban.
