MONday night football
Bills (3-2) at Jets (2-3)
When: 8:15 p.m. Monday
TV: ESPN
BetMGM NFL odds: Bills by 2 1/2
Series record: Bills lead 69-58.
Last meeting: Bills beat Jets 32-6 on Nov. 19, 2023, in Buffalo.
Last week: Bills lost to Texans 23-23; Jets lost to Vikings 23-17.
Bills player to watch: WR Khalil Shakir. If he returns after missing last week with a right ankle injury, the third-year receiver could help settle the Bills’ passing attack. Shakir has been Josh Allen’s most reliable option, having caught 18 of 19 passes thrown in his direction with a team-leading 230 yards receiving and two touchdowns. If he doesn’t return, the question remains which of Buffalo’s other receivers can step up after the position group combined for four catches on 18 targets last week.
Jets player to watch: QB Aaron Rodgers. The 40-year-old quarterback is dealing with a sprained left ankle and sore hamstring a week after having a sore left knee. A lot of the Jets’ success on offense is tied to how healthy and effective Rodgers can be. The past two weeks, he has been sacked eight times and hit 25 times, so the offensive line needs to help keep Rodgers upright. He’ll face the Bills for the first time since tearing his left Achilles tendon four snaps into the season opener last year, also in a “Monday Night Football” game.
Key matchup: Allen vs. Jets’ passing defense. Allen hasn’t thrown an interception this season, a career-best run, but the Bills have also been in a bit of a rut with their passing game. Their 42 passing first downs through five games are their fewest since having 33 in 2018. And opponents have outscored Buffalo 38-6 in the first half. Now the Bills face a Jets defense that has been stingy against the pass, ranking second in the NFL.
Series notes: The teams have split the past two season series, with each winning at home during that span.

browns (1-4) at eagles (2-2)
When: 1 p.m. Sunday
TV: Fox
BetMGM NFL odds: Eagles by 8 1/2
Series record: Browns lead 32-17-1
Last meeting: On Nov. 22, 2020, Nick Chubb rushed for 114 yards and Baker Mayfield passed for 204 to lead the Browns to a 22-17 home win over the Eagles.
Last week: Browns lost 34-13 at Washington; Eagles had a bye.
Key matchup: Deshaun Watson vs. Philadelphia’s defensive front. Cleveland’s line hasn’t protected Watson, who has been sacked a league-leading 26 times. He’s yet to eclipse 200 yards passing in a game this season. Philadelphia’s defense has allowed 365.8 yards per game, ranking 27th in the NFL. Against Tampa Bay, in a 33-16 loss on Sept. 29, Philadelphia trailed 24-0 midway through the second quarter. The Buccaneers used a quick passing game to mitigate the Eagles’ pass rush, something Watson and the Browns would be smart to copy.
Series notes: The teams have not met in the past three seasons. The most recent time Cleveland visited Philadelphia was on Sept. 11, 2016, when the Eagles won 29-10. ... The Browns most recent win in Philadelphia came in 1994.
Stats & stuff: Cleveland’s offense ranks last in the NFL with 239.4 yards per game. ... Eagles DE Brandon Graham will play in his 200th career game on Sunday.
commanders (4-1) at ravens (3-2)
When: 1 p.m. Sunday
TV: CBS
BetMGM NFL odds: Ravens by 6 1/2
Series record: Ravens lead 4-3.
Last meeting: Baltimore beat Washington 31-17 on Oct. 4, 2020, at Washington.
Last week: Ravens beat Bengals 41-38 in overtime; Commanders beat Browns 34-13.
Key matchup: Baltimore’s offensive line against Washington’s pass rush. Lamar Jackson has only been sacked five times this season, even with injuries up front. The Commanders sacked Deshaun Watson seven times last week while taking advantage of the Browns’ banged up line. If Jackson has all the time he wants to throw and run, he could expose some real flaws in the Commanders’ defense.
Series notes: The home team has won three of their past four meetings. ... They’ve split four games since John Harbaugh began coaching Baltimore in 2008. ... The teams’ stadiums, each in Maryland, are separated by less than 30 miles.
Stats and stuff: The Ravens and Commanders are the only two teams to rank in the top five in the league in points, total yards, rushing yards and third down conversions. ... Jackson and Jayden Daniels are the only two players in NFL history to average 200-plus yards passing and 50-plus yards rushing over their careers. ... Jackson, the two-time and reigning MVP, has thrown for 1,206 yards, nine TDs and an interception and run for 363 yards.
chargers (2-2) at Broncos (3-2)
When: 4:05 p.m. Sunday
TV: CBS
BetMGM NFL odds: Chargers by 3
Series record: Broncos lead 73-55-1.
Last meeting: Broncos beat Chargers 16-9 on Dec. 31, 2023, in Denver.
Last week: Chargers had an early bye, Broncos beat Raiders 34-18.
Key matchup: The Chargers’ stout front seven versus Broncos resurgent running back Javonte Williams, who is coming off his first 100-yard scrimmage game since the 2022 opener at Seattle. He ran for 61 yards on 13 carries against Las Vegas and caught five passes for 50 yards.
Series notes: The Broncos have won seven of the past 10 matchups, including the past three. These AFC West rivals have met just once in the playoffs, a 24–17 Broncos win in the 2013 AFC divisional round.
Stats & stuff: Jim Harbaugh is 0-1 as a coach against Denver and 2-1 against Sean Payton. … RB J.K. Dobbins is averaging 6.11 yards per carry, the best of any running back with at least 40 carries. He is fifth in the league, averaging 85.5 rushing yards per game. … WR Ladd McConkey is tied for sixth among rookie receivers with 15 catches, which also leads the Chargers. … WR Quentin Johnston has three touchdowns, all on the road. … The Chargers defense is allowing a league-low 12.5 points per game. … LB Khalil Mack has a sack in three of his past four games against a division opponent. … S Derwin James has at least six tackles in six straight games. ... QB Bo Nix hasn’t thrown an interception during Denver’s three-game winning streak. With a win Sunday, the Broncos would move two games over .500 for the first time since Oct. 3, 2021, a span of 52 games.
steelers (3-2) at raiders (2-3)
When: 4:05 p.m. Sunday
TV: CBS
BetMGM NFL odds: Steelers by 3
Series record: Raiders lead 14-12.
Last meeting: Steelers beat the Raiders 23-18 on Sept. 24, 2023, in Las Vegas.
Last week: Steelers lost to the Cowboys 20-17; Raiders lost to the Broncos 34-18.
Key matchup: Raiders RTs vs. Steelers edge rusher T.J. Watt. Watt loves to line up wide left and be an absolute nightmare for offensive tackles. He already has 4 1/2 sacks this season, and that doesn’t tell the complete story of how he can wreck offensive game plans. Thayer Munford is the usual starter at right tackle, but has missed the past two games with knee and ankle injuries and his status remains uncertain. The other tackle is rookie DJ Glaze, who has allowed two sacks this season.
Series notes: The Steelers have won the past two meetings, but the Raiders had won four of the previous five. ... This is the second straight year the teams will meet in Las Vegas. They most recently played each other in Pittsburgh on Christmas Eve in 2022 and Las Vegas QB Derek Carr was benched the following Monday. .. Though the teams haven’t played each other in the postseason since Jan. 1, 1984 in Los Angeles, they have a rich playoff history against each other. They each have won three times, the first meeting being the most famous. That Dec. 23, 1972 matchup was the “Immaculate Reception” game when Pittsburgh’s Franco Harris grabbed a batted pass just above the turf for a catch-and-run score as time expired to beat the Raiders 13-7.
lions (3-1) at Cowboys (3-2)
When: 4:25 p.m. Sunday
TV: Fox
BetMGM NFL odds: Lions by 3
Series record: Cowboys lead 19-12.
Last meeting: Cowboys beat Lions 20-19 on Dec. 30, 2023, in Arlington, Texas.
Last week: Lions beat Seahawks 42-29 on Sept. 30; Cowboys beat Steelers 20-17.
Key matchup: Cowboys QB Dak Prescott vs. a Detroit pass defense that includes struggling rookie CB Terrion Arnold. Prescott answered a three-turnover game against Pittsburgh by leading the Cowboys on a winning 70-yard drive capped by his 4-yard touchdown pass to Jalen Tolbert with 20 seconds remaining. Prescott was 29 of 42 for 352 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions and a lost fumble. Arnold has been called for pass interference or holding seven times in four games. The 24th overall pick out of Alabama insists he’s confident enough to not get discouraged by the penalty-filled start of his career.
Series notes: The Cowboys have a six-game winning streak in the series. They also won six in a row from 1963-77, a streak that included a divisional playoff victory in 1970 by the quirky score of 5-0.
Stats & stuff: These teams meet again about nine months after Detroit had a 2-point conversion incorrectly disallowed by officials with 23 seconds left in a one-point loss at Dallas in Week 17 last season. The loss cost the Lions a shot at the top seed in the NFC, and they lost at San Francisco in the conference championship game. ... The Cowboys have lost three consecutive home games, starting with a wild-card loss to Green Bay in January and the first two at AT&T Stadium this season.
falcons (3-2) at panthers (1-4)
When: 4:25 p.m. Sunday
TV: Fox
BetMGM NFL odds: Falcons by 6
Series record: Falcons lead 36-22.
Last meeting: Panthers beat Falcons 9-7 on Dec. 17, 2023 in Charlotte.
Last week: Falcons beat Buccaneers 36-30; Panthers lost 36-10 to Bears.
Key matchup: QB Kirk Cousins vs. Panthers red zone defense: Kirk Cousins and the Falcons have only scored touchdowns on 43% of their trips into the opponent’s red zone, which ranks 28th in the league. However, the Panthers could serve as the perfect elixir for those woes. Carolina’s defense has allowed opponents to score touchdowns 88% of the time they cross the 20. Carolina’s banged-up defense has allowed 20 touchdowns and a league-high 165 points.
Series notes: The home team has won the past four games in the series. … The Falcons are 15-14 against the Panthers in Charlotte. ... The Panthers defeated the Falcons at home last year 9-7 on a field goal by Eddy Pineiro as time expired.
Stats & stuff: Though Matt Ryan had his previous Falcons record of 503 passing yards in a game topped by Cousins on the night Ryan was inducted to the team’s Ring of Honor, Ryan still has a strong place in the team records. Ryan holds 17 of the Falcons’ top 25 passing yard totals for a single game. … The Panthers have the worst record in the league since the start of the 2018 season. ... C Brady Christensen and RT Yosh Nijman will make their first starts of the season. ... WR Diontae Johnson was a non-factor against the Bears last week with three catches for 23 yards.
