Possible third Trump assassination attempt

Re “Man with guns held at Trump SoCal rally” (Oct. 14):

So a man with guns and fake IDs is stopped at a checkpoint outside of a Trump rally. He was released on a minuscule bond after claiming he felt threatened and had no ill will toward the former president. Law enforcement should have their collective heads examined!

His persona had all the hallmarks of an assassin.

The very fact he had fake press IDs, passports and license showed he was a threat. Of course this Miller fellow should be vetted for any indication of plotting an assassination, but consider the lengths to which the FBI rooted out everyone with any connection to Jan. 6.

Put those extended detentions and long prison sentences in juxtaposition to this rapid and inexpensive release, and we have the same inattentive mentality that almost got Trump killed, twice.

This story doesn’t pass the smell test as far as Miller’s innocence and the FBI’s ability to protect the president.

Harris’ upcoming interview with Fox News

VP Harris will now come out of her bubble to do an interview with Brett Baier on Fox this Wednesday. This appears to be a desperate effort to lift up her campaign and boost her in the polls. By appearing on a fair and balanced news program, the vice president hopes to portray Trump as scared while he refuses to debate her on national television.

Whenever the subject of border policy comes up, she will most likely claim that Trump instructed Republicans to kill the bill. In response, Brett should say that six Democrats voted against the bill, while one Republican supported it. How do you respond?

Additionally, the bill was intended more as an amnesty bill, allowing millions of migrants free entry into the country and giving them voting rights as quickly as possible.

Public health

Re “Resistance to public health gains foothold in the GOP” (Oct. 12):

I hope the misleading headline did not deter people from reading it.

Though slanted left, it goes on to explain that we are not against a healthy public, but have little faith in the government’s ability to deliver accurate, actionable information regarding our health. Remind me again what an editor’s job is?
