Resident of San Jose

In Loving Memory of Constance Abele (Thanas), mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2024, at the age of 91 in Eagle, Idaho near her daughter Lisa.

Born in April 1933 in Boston, Connie's adventurous spirit led her to Seattle, where she joined her husband, Guido, finishing his engineering degree at the University of Wash. Their journey took them to San Jose, where Connie flourished in her career as an Executive Assistant for esteemed organizations such as the San Jose Mercury News, Team San Jose and GE.

Connie was a vibrant force of nature. An avid golfer and passionate bridge player, she enjoyed life to the fullest. She and Guido were big travelers. She loved visiting family and friends even if they were far. She volunteered for the American Cancer Society, supported women’s groups at Villa Montalvo, and contributed to the Center for the Performing Arts.

Christmas was particularly special to Connie, as she transformed her home into a festive wonderland, often becoming the brightest-lit house in the neighborhood. Known for her wry sense of humor and her ability to connect people, Connie was the heart of her family, keeping cousins, nieces, and nephews informed and united—truly the “Facebook” of her time!

Connie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Guido, with whom she shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. Connie is survived by her daughters and their families, Heidi and Chris, Lisa and Than, Corinne and Mike. grandchildren Brooke, Eric and Caroline, great grandchild Ava.

A celebration of Connie's life will be held on Sunday, October 20th, details will be shared by her daughter Heidi. She was buried in small private setting. Her family thanks all for the outpouring of love and support during this time.
