Resident of Los Gatos

Robert “Ron” Ronald Schwartz passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, just days shy of his 82nd birthday. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, to Hungarian immigrants Bela and Anna Schwartz, Ron moved to San Jose and lived a life full of love, humor, and adventure.

Ron attended Willow Glen High School before earning his BA in Business from San Jose State University. He built a successful real estate development company, but more than his business acumen, Ron was known for his one-of-a-kind personality. To know Ron was to experience a man whose humor was as sharp as his mind—unapologetically crass at times, with a fondness for exclaiming “goddammit!” that only endeared him further to those who loved him. He had aunique ability to make people laugh, whether with a well-timed joke or a playful dig, and his wit left a lasting impression.

In 1969, Ron married the love of his life, Anita Maldonado.

Together, they built a beautiful life and recently celebrated 55 years of marriage. Ron was a devoted husband, aproud father to Erica Lyn and Dana Marie Green (Tyson), and a loving “Papa” to his grandchildren, Cooper Robert and Remy Marie, who were the absolute lights of his life. He was their biggest cheerleader at every game and event, always ready with words of encouragement and love.

A man of many passions, Ron was an avid outdoorsman and WWII history fanatic, often diving deep into books, documentaries, and trivia on the subject. Whether he was out hunting, fishing, or taking his daughters on skiing adventures, Ron loved sharing his love for the outdoors and history with his family. He was generous in every way, sharing not just the fruits of his labor but his time, wisdom, and heart with those he cared for.

An active member of the Gyros and Sainte Claire Club, Ron was widely respected for his integrity, generosity, and his legendary poker skills. He was a brilliant man with a gift for numbers, and his deep knowledge on everything from history to business made him the center of many great conversations. He had a keen mind, a big heart, and a spirit that will be dearly missed.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Anita, his daughters Erica and Dana, his grandchildren Cooper and Remy, and his brothers William (Carolyn), Edward (Lynn), and Les (Jayne), as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bela and Anna.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held on Monday, October 14th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 219 Bean Ave, Los Gatos, CA. Reception to follow at The Saint Claire Club, 65 East St. James St., San Jose, CA 95112. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to CancerCarePoint, 2581 Samaritan Dr, Suite 300, San Jose, CA 95124, in his memory.

Ron’s unique sense of humor, generosity, and boundless love for his family and friends will never be forgotten.

His legacy of laughter and kindness will live on in the hearts of all whose lives he touched.
