Authorities have arrested someone they accuse of being tied to a fatal shooting of an Apple Valley man at a Diamond Bar park-and-ride lot on Monday.

It wasn’t clear if the person they took into custody at a La Verne home was suspected of being the shooter, an accomplice or had some other role in the crime.

The suspect’s name, age and city of residence had not been released yet.

The shooting at a park-and-ride lot on Pathfinder Road near the northbound 57 Freeway was reported around 6:20 a.m.

Investigators believe the shooter and the victim knew each other, said Officer Joseph Davila, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol.

The victim was found in a car. He was shot in the torso after an argument, Davila said. He didn’t know what the dispute was about.

The victim then drove west on Pathfinder but, due to his injuries, lost control of his car and crashed into a wall, Davila said.

The medical examiner’s office identified the victim, who died at the scene, as 26-year-old Nicholas Moody.

A passenger, a woman, was not injured.

CHP officials did not reveal what led them to the 2600 block of Second Street in La Verne on Monday afternoon for the arrest.

The CHP asked anyone with information about the shooting to call its Southern Division office at 323-259-3200.
