Chino Hills City Hall was closed Tuesday due to a fire that broke out in the building late the night before.
The blaze began around 11:50 p.m. Monday, according to fire officials, and was attributed to computer equipment that caught fire and set off the building’s sprinkler system.
No one was in the building at the time of the fire.
According to city officials, City Hall was operating Tuesday with limited services via telephone and online, as there is significant water damage in the building. City Hall will remain closed through at least Wednesday, officials said.
The city said an assessment of the building is needed to determine how badly it was damaged and when it can be reopened.
Tuesday’s regularly scheduled Chino Hills City Council meeting was expected to proceed as planned. The Council Chambers at City Hall were not affected by the fire, officials said.
