More than 60 veterans will visit Woodland High School’s library on Wednesday morning from 10 to 11:30 a.m. to meet with students as part of a school-wide project for students to experience history firsthand.

As part of the veterans’ project, students will have breakfast with a veteran and interview them at the high school located at 21 N. West St. Using that information, students will create a slideshow to present about the veteran’s life and service and write a research paper in their English class.

Originally started in 2008 by WHS teachers Erica Chung and Michael Owens, this is the first time this project is being held since the COVID pandemic shut down schools years ago. Now, students from the school’s Future Farmers of America, Agriculture Academy, and the Culinary Arts program will once again help stage the event, greet veterans, and serve food to participants.
