Gilbert Aguirre Jr. of Salinas, California, passed away on January 3,2025 at the age of 66. He was born onMarch 10, 1958. Gilbert lived a life filled with love and laughter.

He was known for his calm and gentle demeanor, unwavering support, and served as a voice of reason for many. Gilbert retired as a custodian in 2019 after working at Alisal Elementary School for 40 years.

Gilbert held a special place in the hearts of countless people. He was a nurturing father, a loving grandpa, a caring brother, a kind partner, and a valued friend. He was often described as a really cool guy by those he worked with. His sharp-witted sense of humor, sound judgement, and no-nonsense wisdom will be greatly missed.

Gilbert was deeply involved in the lives of his grandsons. He enjoyed watching their baseball and basketball games, attending their theatre shows, having sleepovers, picking them up from school, and joining them for breakfast. He was a lifelong Niners and Giants fan and enjoyed watching and attending games with his family.

He wasn’t a complicated guy. He kept things clean, organized, and neat. Throughout his life, Gilbert was fond of animals and found joy in spending time with his cat Daisy. He held a great appreciation for nature and would often take morning walks along the beach, admiring the ocean with his partner.

Gilbert exemplified patience, kindness, respect, and rationality. He was a reliable and steadfast source of support who could always be counted on by those he loved.

His absence is and will continue to be deeply felt but his legacy will endure in his daughters, grandsons, brothers, and sisters.

Gilbert is survived by his daughters Francine Lontoc and Linda Aguirre, his grandsons Cedrick Lontoc and Desmond Lontoc, his sisters Estella Vasquez and Frances Aguirre, his brothers Louis Aguirre and Roy Aguirre, his partner Sylvia Polanco, and his cat Daisy.

To honor the life of Gilbert Aguirre Jr., visitations, eulogies, and a rosary will be held at Healey Mortuary and Crematory, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas, CA 93905. Visitations will be held on Tuesday, January 14th from 1:00-5:00 p.m. and Wednesday, January 15th from 12:00-5:00 p.m. with eulogies taking place at 3:00 p.m. and a rosary at 4:00 p.m. The mass service will be held on Thursday, January 16th at Sacred Heart Church, 22 Stone St, Salinas, CA 93901 at 9:30 a.m. followed by burial at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Prunedale, CA 93907.
