Pay attention to what is happening to our country
On my family’s recent Spring Break road trip to New Mexico and Texas, we were forced to watch Fox News one morning (the price of a “free” breakfast in the hotel). The blindingly blonde newscaster was talking about how Democrats have been using a lot of bad words in speeches recently. She showed a clip of a Black man speaking angrily to a crowd (his exact words were muted). Above his head, Fox placed a banner that read “Party of Profanity?” Then the newscaster moved on to her next topic. No mention of WHY Democrats might be using a lot of profanity these days.
I was reminded of a scholarly article I read years ago that compared people’s knowledge of current events with where they obtained their news. This was before the Trump era, but sure enough, Fox News viewers were the least well-informed. Who were the most well-informed? Viewers of comedy news shows, such as Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert. The authors of the article suggested that Fox News viewers tend to have it on in the background all day long and don’t pay close attention, whereas viewers of comedy news programs are actively listening. I would further suggest that even if you do pay close attention to Fox News, it’s impossible to figure out what’s really going on.
Come on, everyone! Let’s pay attention to what is happening to our country!

Don’t erase the magic quality of CU South
I have realized from no longer having a dog that I was not taking her for a walk on the “South Campus,” although I was taking hundreds of pictures of the biodiversity there, rather she was taking me, and that she had the good sense to know what a unique treasure the place is. I am not a fan of libertarian political economics — it leads too easily to corporate domination — but the site as it exists is a self-governing libertarian paradise for everyone there. What I have seen in other flood mitigation projects the City has undertaken is that we can expect the total erasure of its magic quality. I also have little faith in the Parks and Open Space’s ability to create anything better than what is real there now. Its demolition is a crime against the people (and dogs) of Boulder and the natural order of life.

What is the SAVE Act?
Women of the U.S. are about to lose their voting rights!
According to the SAVE Act, a woman needs to vote using the name that is on her birth certificate. Any woman who has gotten married or divorced has usually changed her name to her husband’s last name. So does that mean that every one of those women needs to go back and “legally” change her name back to her maiden name? That can cost a lot of money and especially time. And how long does it take to have that show up in the legal records?
So women will not be able to use their driver’s licenses or any other form of ID unless it has their birth certificate name on it and no other name.
Is that how the President and the GOP are going to “eliminate” the women’s vote from the next election? They can’t afford to have women vote in 2026.
The GOP is forcing women to go back to the 1960s when men dominated the USA. They want women “subservient” to men.
First, it was Roe vs. Wade, IVF, birth control, the “pill,” and now voting rights. Women need to know about this new bill the GOP/government is trying to pass. It’s time we step up.
