BRENTWOOD >> A 17-year-old has been charged with murder following a fatal shooting last week outside a 24 Hour Fitness, authorities said.
Police arrested the suspect in the hours after the early morning Aug. 11 shooting, which killed 21-year-old Cesar Arana, of Brentwood. Authorities are not identifying the suspect because of the person’s age.
Three other people were wounded and survived. One of those three was a minor, police said.
Arana died at the scene after gunfire broke out in the parking lot outside the gym in the 5900 block of Lone Tree Way. The shooting happened at about 1:55 a.m. after an argument that started on the gym’s basketball courts escalated outside.
A second person arrested by authorities hours after the shooting was released by police who said they determined he was not the shooter.
