Gomber is on a bit of a roll of late, producing three quality starts in his last four outings with a 3.91 ERA. He’s also submitted three quality starts in his last three road games (2.25 ERA). If the left-hander can get out of the first inning unscathed, he might be in line for another. Gomber has allowed 28 runs in the first inning and 40 in every other inning combined. This will be the second time he has faced the Yankees in his career. The other came at Coors Field on July 14, 2023, when he gave up two runs on six hits over six innings pitched.

Stroman has been up and down since the All-Star break, posting a 5.24 ERA that included a pair of starts in which the right-hander was unable to make it past the fourth inning. Still, he has appeared to right the ship over his last two starts, giving up just one earned run over 11 innings, including six scoreless against Detroit his last time out. Stroman has pitched well against the Rockies in his career, posting a 2.79 ERA over seven appearances. But things didn’t go so smoothly in his last start against Colorado, when he allowed three runs over three innings with five hits allowed.
