Aaron Rodgers is still contemplating whether to continue his playing career. If he does, it appears it won’t be with the New York Jets.
The team has told the 41-year-old quarterback it is “moving on from him,” Fox Sports reported Sunday.
Rodgers said toward the end of the Jets’ 5-12 season he was undecided on his playing future and wanted to take a mental break.
There was also uncertainty as to whether the Jets would even want to move forward with Rodgers.
The Jets recently hired general manager Darren Mougey and coach Aaron Glenn, and owner Woody Johnson said at their introductory news conference on Jan. 27 the new regime would have the final say in that decision.

Gophers after Everett as next RB coach
The Gophers football program are targeting Jayden Everett for its next running backs coach, a source confirmed to the Pioneer Press.
Everett helped guide Michigan’s tailbacks as assistant running backs coach in 2024. On Jan. 13, he was named the top running backs coach at South Alabama on Jan. 13.
He is expected to replace Nic McKissic-Luke, who will become the New York Jets running back coach after two seasons at Minnesota.
Gophers head coach P.J. Fleck explored a short list of candidates after McKissic-Luke’s exit this week.
Working under Tony Alford at Michigan, Everett helped Wolverines duo Kalel Mullings and Donovan Edwards rushed for more than 1,500 yards and 16 total touchdowns in 2024.
Before Michigan, Everett was the running backs coach at Vanderbilt (2023), Tulsa (2021-22), Akron (2019-20) and Central Michigan (2017-18). The Newton, Kan., native played linebacker at Indiana State and later became an assistant coach there for four years. His first coaching gig was at Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College.

Antetokounmpo out of All-Star Game
Milwaukee forward Giannis Antetokounmpo will not play in next weekend’s All-Star Game because of a strained left calf, meaning NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will have to pick a replacement.
Bucks coach Doc Rivers confirmed Antetokounmpo’s status, with the team ruling him out of a game against Philadelphia and indicating that he’ll likely also be out for games Monday at home against Golden State and Wednesday at Minnesota.
Antetokounmpo last played Feb. 2 in the Bucks’ 123-119 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.
He was listed as unavailable due to right patella tendinopathy for the Bucks’ 125-96 loss at Oklahoma City the following night, and he’s been out with the calf issue since.
