



Coaches from the Macomb Area Conference girls basketball leagues convened recently to select all-league teams along with MVPs, Coaches of the Year and sportsmanship awards.
The following are the final results.
MAC Red
The Ford Falcons and Eisenhower Eagles shared the Red championship with matching 9-1 records, with their only losses coming to each other.
For their efforts this season, Ford star Anayya Davis was named the league MVP, and her head coach, Matt Joseph, was awarded Coach of the Year honors.
Grosse Pointe North was honored with the league’s sportsmanship award.
All-conference players for the MAC Red are: Maddy Benard, Grosse Pointe South; Devyn Raymond, Eisenhower; Eva Borowski, Grosse Pointe North; Tyra Wright, Ford; Mackenzie Turner, Eisenhower; Madison Repicky, Eisenhower; Brooklyn Garavaglia, Dakota; Meadow Cameron, Dakota and Claire O’Brien, Ford.
Notably, only three of them are seniors — Benard, Raymond and Wright. Both Turner and Repicky of Eisenhower are freshmen.
All-conference honorable mentions include Allie Ruggirello and Makayla Reed of Dakota; Gabby Gojcaj, Janielle Turner, Natalya Stojcevski and Leah Poggiolo of Eisenhower; Maria Raciti and Emily Leusby of Ford; Morgan Duff, Ciara Pongratz and Clara Bachert of GPS and Ava Weber, Madison Bezenah, Brooklyn Ware and Mariah Turner of Port Huron.
MAC White
The Anchor Bay Tars celebrated a perfect 10-0 mark in the White this season and were recognized by their peers for it, as junior guard Julia Tkaczyk was named MVP and head coach Jennifer Thiede was named coach of the year.
The L’Anse Creuse North Crusaders were awarded with the sportsmanship award.
The MAC White all-conference team honorees are Demaya Asberry, Cousino; Ava Kilgore, LCN; Ava Seletsky, Anchor Bay; Karissa Lewis, Anchor Bay; Layla Babich, Romeo; Madison Geib, Lakeview; Aya Mosley, Romeo; Violet Smith, Utica and Autumn McDonald, Anchor Bay.
Four of the players (Asberry, Kilgore, Geib and Mosley) are seniors.
All-conference honorable mentions include Anchor Bay’s Hailey McDonald and Averi Thiede; Charlotte Martin, Maggie Stadler, Raegan Collins, Bailey Bainbridge and Londyn Johnson of Cousino; LCN’s Sophia Wiacek, Vivian Meteer and Grace Peraino; Lakeview’s Reyna Porter, Izzy Tiseo and Natalie Archibald; Sam Sackfield, Mya Muschong, Lydia Hill and Clare Carmody of Romeo and Utica’s Alexis Petruccioli.
MAC Blue
Fraser got hot late in the season to capture the MAC Blue with an 8-2 record, and head coach Rob Fulgenzi was named Coach of the Year as a result.
South Lake senior center Dania McClain, a Robert Morris commit, dominated all season and earned league MVP.
The MAC Blue first team honorees are Alaynah Quinn, Fraser; MyKenzi Harris, Chippewa Valley; Christina Gibson, South Lake; Brynn Norbeck, Fraser; Charlotte Eastman, Port Huron Northern; Gracyn Carrier, Chippewa Valley; Ryan Quain, Marysville, Hannah Tamou, Stevenson and Shannon Fealko, Port Huron Northern.
Six seniors (Harris, Gibson, Eastman, Quan, Tamou and Fealko) were given all-league honors in their final season.
The honorable mentions include Chippewa Valley’s Zae’na Thacker and Yolando Gascho; Fraser’s Francesca Sines, Natasha Smith and Samantha Smith; Marysville’s Kendal Quain, Addison Mynsberge, Camry Eveningred and Annika Gellash; PHN’s Marisa and Madison Raymo; South Lake’s Rylee Mott, Gracie George, Leila Jones and Kendal Crooms and Stevenson’s Kayla Cook and Allie Szalkiewicz.
The Stevenson Titans were awarded the sportsmanship award.
MAC Gold
The Gold champion Roseville Panthers went 9-1 in the league with senior forward Keyonna Scorpio and head coach Andy Houghton receiving MVP and Coach of the Year honors, respectively.
All-league honorees were Gracie Pickelhaupt, St. Clair; Meko Barbee, Roseville; Sophia Russell, St. Clair; Kalynn Millander, Fitzgerald; Dionni John, Roseville, Brooklyn Haslem, Marine City, Allison Tuladziecki, L’Anse Creuse; Aliyah White, Fitzgerald and Rihanna Reeves, Roseville.
Barbee, Millander, John, Haslem and Reeves are all seniors, while White made the list as a freshman.
Honorable mentions include Fitzgerald’s Casundra Smith and Asia Bowman; Grace Vandenstorm from Lake Shore; L’Anse Creuse’s Veronica Niarhos and Alexa Maracle; Marine City’s Matti Marlatt, Emma Terhune and Audrey Northrip; Roseville’s Kimari Lang and St. Clair’s Rylee Schneider and Allie Komarowski.
Lake Shore and Marine City were both awarded the sportsmanship award.
MAC Silver
Both going 9-1, Warren Mott and Clawson were this season’s MAC Silver champions.
Mott’s Addison Brown, a senior forward, was named league MVP and her coach, Patrick Schmidt and Clawson head coach Michelle Lindsey were both named Coach of the Year.
All-league selections were Gabby Lewis, Warren Woods Tower; Maddie Pfaff, Clawson; Emily Eritzno, Lamphere; Lily Buchler, Clawson; Tazaria Hill, WWT; Valentina Jarbow, Sterling Heights; Niah Sims, Mott; Leajah Ferguson, Mott and Janiyah Thomas, Center Line.
Pfaff, Eritzno, Jarbow and Sims all achieved this as seniors, while Buchler is still just a freshman.
Honorable mentions were Center Line’s Jordyn Alexander; Clawson’s Brennan Gough, Lana Wilder and Addison Tikey; Lamphere’s Emma and Avery Malkowski; Mott’s Allison Phillips and Conamora Ndana; Sterling Heights’ Shireen Alyas and Warren Woods Tower’s April Williams, Layla Unger, Priscilla Lee and Trinity Anderson.
Center Line and Sterling Heights were both awarded the sportsmanship award.
MAC Bronze
Lastly, the Eastpointe Shamrocks were awarded for their 8-0 run through the Bronze with their head coach Deon Woods, being named Coach of the Year and senior Da’Naya Sadler winning MVP.
For all-league selections, there’s Eastpointe’s R’leasha Currie; Lincoln’s Lajewel Taylor; Madison’s Damia Harvey and DaNylia Page; New Haven’s Gabby Goetz, Jerikah Bowman and Onika Bicksler and Hazel Park’s Haromy Hays.
Currie, Goetz and Bicksler are seniors.
Honorable mentions include Eastpointe’s Angie Evans; Lincoln’s Cherish Adams; Madison’s Alana Williams and New Haven’s Nevaeh McQueen, Fayth Serra, Brynlee Robert and Juliana Calhoun-Green.
Lincoln was the recipient of the sportsmanship award.
