MONTEREY >> The Monterey City Council will conduct a workshop to provide feedback on the 2025 city staff work program and establish council priorities and values, inviting the public to participate and ask questions as well, at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The council will convene this special meeting at Scholze Park Center, hearing a presentation from the city staff and the executive team on major initiatives and priorities the city intends to take or continue in 2025.

The council meets like this twice a year, going over short- and long-term policies, programs and projects that are not part of the city’s routine service delivery.

The city says its value drivers include: protecting the environment, fiscal stewardship, developing and retaining a quality workforce, historic preservation and diversity, transparent and inclusive government, active mobility, affordable housing, secure water sources and quality of life.

The value drivers, such as “expanding opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to bike and walk safely through active transportation, accessibility and safe initiatives,” includes issues and concerns brought up by the council and public.

City staff have listed strategic priorities for each, such as continuing to implement the traffic signal adaptive system or continuing ongoing immediate roadway repairs and closures.

The council will have the opportunity to ask questions and make suggestions during the workshop.

There will be time for public comment and for residents to share their thoughts as well.

The Monterey City Council will meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Scholze Park Center, 280 Dickman Ave.

The meeting will be streamed online for viewing only at youtube.com/cityofmonterey and on Comcast Channel 25.

To participate remotely on a computer or smartphone the meeting will be streamed via Zoom at https://monterey-org.zoomgov.com/j/1616037682.
