Gabriel breaks NCAA total TDs record and No. 1 Oregon downs Maryland 39-18

EUGENE, Ore.>> Dillon Gabriel broke the NCAA record for total career touchdowns and top-ranked Oregon remained undefeated with a 39-18 victory over Maryland on Saturday night.

Gabriel threw for 183 yards and three touchdowns for the Ducks, who were No. 1 in the first College Football Playoff rankings of the season announced earlier this week.

Gabriel’s pass 3-yard scoring pass in the second half gave him 179 total touchdowns, breaking Case Keenum’s record of 178 at Houston from 2007-11.

No. 5 TEXAS 49, FLORIDA 17>> Quinn Ewers passed for 333 yards and five touchdowns as the No. 5 Longhorns rolled over the struggling Gators two days after third-year Gators coach Billy Napier was given a public statement of support from the school’s athletic director.

No. 6 Penn State 35, Washington 6>> Tyler Warren caught eight passes for 75 yards and ran for two touchdowns as No. 6 Penn State pulled away from Washington. The Nittany Lions scored on their first four possessions to put the game out of reach and keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive.

No. 7 Tennessee 33, Mississippi State 14>> Dylan Sampson rushed for a career-high 149 yards and a touchdown to lead No. 7 Tennessee past Mississippi State.

Sampson became the centerpiece of the Volunteers’ offense in the second half after Nico Iamaleava exited with an upper-body injury.

Iamaleava took a hard hit on an incomplete pass late in the second and didn’t return. There was no word if he would be available for next week’s game at Georgia.

No. 8 INDIANA 20, MICHIGAN 15>> Kurtis Rourke threw two first-half touchdown passes and No. 8 Indiana’s defense held up long enough to give the Hoosiers a record-breaking victory over longtime nemesis Michigan.

Rourke was 17 of 28 with 206 yards for the Hoosier.

No. 10 Notre Dame 52, Florida State 3>> Riley Leonard rushed for two touchdowns, passed for 215 yards and one touchdown and No. 10 Notre Dame heaped more misery onto Florida State by overpowering the Seminoles 52-3.

No. 11 Alabama 42, No. 14 LSU 13>> Jalen Milroe highlighted a career-high 185 yards rushing with four scoring runs, and No. 11 Alabama routed 14th-ranked LSU 42-13.

Milroe’s fourth touchdown also was his longest run, a 72-yard sprint that gave the Crimson Tide a 29-point lead early in the fourth quarter.

No. 18 ARMY 14, NORTH TEXAS 3>> Quarterback Bryson Daily ran for 153 yards and two touchdowns, and No. 18 Army extended the nation’s longest winning streak to 13 games with a victory over North Texas.

No. 19 CLEMSON 24, VIRGINIA TECH 14>> Cade Klubnik threw three touchdown passes to help No. 19 Clemson beat Virginia Tech.

SOUTH CAROLINA 28, No. 24 VANDERBILT 7>> Raheim Sanders ran for 126 yards and two touchdowns and scored a 43-yard TD catch as South Carolina thumped No. 24 Vanderbilt for the Gamecocks’ second straight win over a Top 25 team.
