Doug Toovey was born in Fullerton, California, to Monte and Marie Toovey. Hewas the second of four sons and was predeceased by his brother Tracy Toovey, as well as his parents. He passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in his sleep.

In 1963, the Toovey family moved from Buena Park to Pleasant Hill, where Doug graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1974. He earned his degree from Cal State Hayward and spent 20 years working in business before becoming an entrepreneur, a path he continued until his passing.

Doug met his wife, Peggy (Stafford) Toovey, in 1976, and they were married in May of 1980. Over the years, they moved more than 15 times before finally settling in Twain Harte in 2021 with their four dogs. He passed one month shy of their 45th wedding anniversary.

Doug was a dedicated family man who would do anything for his wife, kids, and grandkids. He is survived by Peggy; their son Jason (37) and his wife Stephanie, along with their sons Lachlan and Callum; and their daughter Stephanie Haley (34) and her husband Michael, and daughter Molly. He is also survived by his brothers Denton and Vincent Toovey and their families.

Doug was the kind of person who could figure out how to do anything. He was practical, sharp, and always willing to help.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 31st, at the Lafayette Veterans Memorial Center (3780 Mount Diablo Blvd., Lafayette) from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Doug wanted people to remember him with laughter, not sadness—so wear your favorite tropical shirt /vacation dress and bring a story to share.
