The regular season has come to an end for girls soccer and lacrosse, and 13 soccer teams from the BoCoPreps coverage area made their cases for playoffs, just as four boys lacrosse teams and three girls lacrosse teams will play on.

5A girls soccer and 4A lacrosse began Tuesday, while soccer for all other classifications and 5A lacrosse will begin Wednesday and Thursday.

For girls soccer, Mead takes the lead for 4A with the No. 6 seed, while 3A No. 4 Prospect Ridge Academy and 2A No. 12 Dawson will be the chief representatives from the smaller classifications. Fairview’s girls will be the only lacrosse team from the BoCo area in the 5A tournament, and they enjoyed the No. 4 seed for their competition. Fairview boys lacrosse, likewise, earned the top local seed at No. 7.

A look at the matchups:

Girls soccer

4A No. 6 Mead vs. No. 27 Thomas Jefferson, Wednesday

The Mavericks have been rolling this year with a 12-2 record and only suffered those setbacks to 5A No. 13 Legacy and 5A No. 17 Fairview. They haven’t been afraid to show off their flashy offense, averaging 3.9 goals per game and even defeating Northridge with a 12-2 thumping last month. Senior Katy Adler (21 goals) and junior Madelyn Wright (14) have been scoring machines. The Spartans, meanwhile, only score 2.5 goals on average.

4A No. 25 Skyline at No. 8 Dakota Ridge, Wednesday

The 6-8-1 Falcons had a rough start to their spring but saw it all come together with five straight victories to end their regular-season slate. They’ve relied mostly on their defense this year, netting just 1.7 goals per game, but enjoyed a major boost from junior forward Aniah Dothard and her 15 scores. The Eagles, meanwhile, come in at 12-3 and averaging 4.3 goals.

3A No. 4 Prospect Ridge Academy vs. No. 29 DSST: Montview, Thursday

The Miners have been rolling this year with their 12-3 record and have only lost games to the top-five seeded teams in the classification. They can sometimes whip out a flashy offense that averaged 3.2 goals per game but peaked at eight scores against Liberty Common in March. Senior forward Madison Skinner takes the cake with 15 goals, followed by 10 apiece from senior midfielder Sierra Bennett and senior defender Kayah Robbins. The Knights, on the other hand, score three times per game.

3A No. 5 Jefferson Academy vs. No. 28 Arrupe Jesuit, Thursday

The Jaguars brushed off three early losses to win seven straight in April and now boast a 10-5 mark. They’ve scored 4.3 goals on average and owe a lot of that production to seniors Elsa Nygren (15 goals), Brianna Kozlowski (15) and Ella Pajor (12). The Generals, by comparison, only score 1.9 goals per outing.

3A No. 12 Peak to Peak vs. No. 21 Regis Groff, Thursday

The 7-6-2 Pumas certainly took some bruises through their always-tough Metro League, but it also boosted them to a favorable seed. Junior forward Isla Howkins and freshman middy Sadie Corbett led the offense with five goals each, as the team in full averaged 2.1 scores. Regis Groff didn’t play quite the challenging schedule that Peak to Peak did, as it netted 5.3 goals on average.

3A No. 15 Longmont vs. No. 18 St. Mary’s Academy, Thursday

The Trojans put their best cleats forward with a 10-4-1 record and ended their slate with three wins and a tie. Sophomore midfielder Claire Sebring was money on offense with 18 scores, as the full team brought home 3.3 goals a game. The Wildcats won just five of 15 games but got hotter at the end of the regular season. They netted just 1.8 goals on average.

3A No. 25 Holy Family at No. 8 Alamosa, Thursday

The 5-10 Tigers will make the long, long drive down to Alamosa this week and will take their 0.9 goals per game — with two each from junior middy Paige Brown and junior forward Samantha Gryzmala — with them. The Mean Moose, on the other hand, come in at 10-1-2 and are enjoying 4.5 scores on average.

2A No. 12 Dawson vs. No. 21 James Irwin, Wednesday

The 9-4-1 Mustangs suffered three of their setbacks toward the end of the season to teams in the top nine seeds, and they housed a scoring juggernaut with senior forward Kahoe Bihag (27 goals). They averaged 4.6 goals, while the 8-6 Jaguars managed to sink 5.4 scores per game.

5A boys lacrosse

No. 7 Fairview, bye

The Knights earned the right to sit out of the first round of the state tournament and will await the winner of No. 10 Legend and No. 23 Monarch. They boast an 11-4 mark and have shown they know how to hit paydirt, having averaged 12.9 goals per game. Junior attacker Kai Modica has been the main man of action with 46 goals to his name.

No. 22 Erie at No. 11 Cherokee Trail, Wednesday

The Tigers lost a lot of talent from last year’s state championship team and played a tough schedule that yielded a 6-9 result. Senior attacker Tyler Chivukula (23 goals) and senior middy Cooper Riley (20) made up for a good chunk of an offense that averaged 7.3 goals. The Cougars, by comparison, netted 10.7 per game.

No. 23 Monarch at No. 10 Legend, Wednesday

Much like Erie, the 5-10 Coyotes skirted into the postseason by the grace of their tough schedule but managed to score 8.1 goals per game. A lot of that offensive production came from senior midfielders Thomas Roberts (28 goals), Henry Fischer (20) and Flynn Leonard (20). The Titans, on the other hand, enjoyed 13.3 goals on average.

5A girls lacrosse

No. 4 Fairview vs. No. 13 Pine Creek, Wednesday

The 12-3 Knights have been a force of nature this year and have only lost to the top three seeds in the classification. They bring in a fiery offense that nets 12.3 goals per game and have relied on their depth — namely freshman attacker Emmy Leonard (38 goals) and freshman middy Josie Craytor (32) — to carry them to victory. The 9-6 Eagles have certainly faced more adversity, but they’re still averaging 10.8 goals per game.
