White Stripes nominated for Hall

The second time could be the charm for The White Stripes. The Detroit duo has been nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2025, the Rock Hall organization announced Wednesday.

The White Stripes join a class of potential nominees which includes Mariah Carey, Soundgarden, Oasis, OutKast, Phish, Joy Division/ New Order, Bad Company, the Black Crowes, Joe Cocker, Chubby Checker, Maná and Cyndi Lauper.

Rock Hall nominees are eligible 25 years after its first commercial recording.

The White Stripes rose from Detroit’s underground rock scene in the late 1990s and released its self-titled debut album in 1999.
