Boys basketball coaches in the Macomb Area Conference divisions gathered to choose which players were the best of the best in their league this past season, selecting all-conference players and honorable mentions, along with a Player of the Year, Coach of the Year and Sportsmanship winner for each division.

MAC Red

Unsurprisingly, the 10-0, two-time defending Division 2 state champion Lincoln Abes cleaned up the division’s honors, with senior guard Markus Blackwell earning MVP and head coach Wydell Henry being named Coach of The Year.

The Grosse Pointe South Blue Devils were awarded the league’s sportsmanship award.

All-conference honorees include: Alex Jamison, Port Huron Northern; Geon Hutchins, Lincoln; Da’Marion Bozeman, Lincoln; Amir Morelan, PHN; Justin Gloster, Chippewa Valley; Cam Harju, PHN; Dekovan Thomas, Dakota; Jaden Brown, CV; Hanklin Elston, Roseville.

Of the honorees, five (Hutchins, Bozeman, Gloster, Thomas and Elston) are seniors.

All-league honorable mentions are Chippewa Valley’s Josh Johnson, Cassidy Sanders and Brandon Bellante; Dakota’s Brayden Lee, Tovin Williams, Arnez Sanders and Keylon Jackson; Grosse Pointe South’s Vince Vachon, Kooper Richards, James Michelotti and Adam Czarnik; Lincoln’s Moses Blackwell and Chris Morgan; PHN’s Kadin Cantrell and Tyrese Johnson; and Roseville’s Kyle Reeves and Jadarius Payne.

MAC White

Like their Warren neighbors, the Fitzgerald Spartans went 10-0 in their league and were rewarded accordingly. Senior guard Cyrus Mpeba earned league MVP and head coach Vito Jordan was named Coach of the Year.

The sportsmanship award went to the Romeo Bulldogs.

The all-conference team includes Julius Wilson, L’Anse Creuse North; Keandre Burtin, Fitzgerald; Ben Stojanovski, Romeo; Alex Edgar, Eisenhower; Randall Rice, Eisenhower; Sam Kashat, Stevenson; Brandon Thomas, LCN; Lydell Sewell, Fitzgerald; Hayden Hermiz, Utica.

Seniors Stojanovski, Edgar, Kashat, Thomas and Sewell finished their prep careers with the honor.

All-league honorable mentions are Eisenhower’s Trey Richardson, Nolan Harbison and Maddox Moore; Fitzgerald’s Quenten Graham and Marcellus Phelps; LCN’s Aaron Koch, Nehvir Njoku, Tyler Palmer, Greg Houston Jr., Brian Clarke Jr., Branson Mackey and Ricky Sparks; Romeo’s Brody Hare, Austin Habicht and Alex Kelley; Stevenson’s Kryan Ross, Graham James and Kaleb Miche and Utica’s Caston Rissman.

MAC Blue

With a stellar 9-1 record in the MAC Blue this season, Grosse Pointe North’s Leo Perettie was awarded league MVP and their head coach, Rob Johnson, was named the Coach of the Year.

Fraser earned the sportsmanship award.

The all-conference selections went to Cousino’s Nic Farr, Eli Miller, Ford; Tyler Finkbeiner, Anchor Bay; Aaron Johnson, Ford; DeQuan Howell, GPN; RJ Williams, GPN; Sam Zanon, Fraser; Brady Sloan, Fraser; Zach Norman, Anchor Bay.

Every honoree save for Farr and Sloan is a senior.

Honorable mentions are Anchor Bay’s Griffin Rose and Mason Erickson; Cousino’s Noah Saunders and Brandon Cade; Ford’s Carson Sturm and Aiden Gillich; Fraser’s Connor Sikorski and Chris Childs; GPN’s Joshua Sherrill, Ben Rickermann and Devin Headd; and L’Anse Creuse’s Darian Johnson, Logan Kurtz, Jayden Fomby, Nathan Apperson and Javeon Anderson.

MAC Gold

Port Huron dominated the MAC Gold this season with a 10-0 record, earning Coach of the Year honors for head coach Jeremy Rosenau.

St. Clair junior Braylon Frantz was named league MVP after leading the Saints to an 8-2 record in league play.

All-conference selections were earned by Port Huron’s Garrett James and Jaedyn Carswell; Lake Shore’s Jason Pruitt; Drew McCartney, St. Clair; Lamar Pearson, New Haven; Robert Gordon Jr., Warren Woods Tower; Lakeview’s Travis Kelley; Port Huron’s Travon Thomspon and New Haven’s Ryan Abaun.

Each selection outside of Kelley and Abaun finished their prep career this season.

The honorable mentions include Lake Shore’s Brendan Manor, Ja’Sean Dean, Steven Likins and Adam Rach; Lakeview’s Kameron Braxton and Ethan Trombley; New Haven’s Christian Valentine, Darrien Wilmer, Kayden Harmon, Irving Frizzell and William Bosco; Port Huron’s Tahsaan Lunn and Jaxon Rowe; Warren Woods Tower’s Cody Charleston, Brendan Redmond, Malachi Brand and Kyan Jones; and St. Clair’s Michael Frantz, Evan Trudeau and Jayden Sheldon.

MAC Silver

With a 9-0 record in the league, the Center Line Panthers who helped make the conference title were rewarded: senior big man Terez Holmes was named MVP, and head coach Derrick Walton Sr. was awarded Coach of the Year.

The Warren Mott Marauders were given the sportsmanship award.

All-conference selections include Kameron Higginbotham, Center Line; Charles Jones, South Lake; Terence Mays, South Lake; Cole Horan, Marysville; Aaron Perry, Eastpointe; Johnny Hand, Marine City; Mekhi Radford-Dowana, Marysville; Sean Askew, Eastpointe and Adonte Hawkins, South Lake.

Another senior-laden group, Jones, Mays, Horan, Perry, Radford-Dowana and Adonte Hawkins earned the selections in their final prep seasons.

The honorable mention went to Center Line’s Sebastian Abuel, Caleil Spencer, J’Shaun Lucas, Tony Jones and Cameron Easton; Eastpointe’s Je’Sean Johnson, Trevon Canady and Dalon Davis; Marine City’s Easton LaBuhn and Nate Beaker; Marysville’s Isaac Allen, Jake Dysinger and Zac Wright and South Lake’s Ernest Tiggart, Davon Malbrough, Will McGee and Marcell Mason.

MAC Bronze

The Lamphere Rams won the league with a 9-1 record and earned junior Jack Robinson the MVP award and Coach of the Year for Bobby Robinson.

The sportsmanship award went to Clawson.

The all-conference team is comprised of Quincy Twymon, Lamphere; Evan Landstrom, Lamphere; Ramone Shannon, Clintondale; Davon Ciesolka, Clintondale; Carson Otto, Sterling Heights; Kishawn Stewart, Hazel Park; Chris Hana, Hazel Park; Deshaun Williams, Clawson and Shawn Dennis, Madison.

Unlike some of the previous leagues, this year’s Bronze honorees will largely be back next season with only Twymon, Shannon and Ciesolka being seniors.

Honorable mentions include Clawson’s Dashawn Williams, Colton Moats and Dylan Huff; Clintondale’s De’Anthony Matthews and Kamari Johnson; Hazel Park’s Jayce Goff; Lamphere’s Mychael Foster, Aiden Lindsey and Cam Cross; and Madison’s Myani Franks and Tristen Wallace.
