Bail was set at $30,000 Sunday for a Country Club Hills woman charged in connection with a fatal accident Friday on Interstate 80, according to state police and public records.

Chiquita Roundtree, 29, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence involving death, state police said in a news release Monday.

A passenger in her car, 37-year-old Michael James, of Des Plaines, died in the crash that happened at 2 p.m. near the merge of I-80 and Interstate 294, according to the release.

Roundtree was driving a black 2014 Infiniti, traveling east on I-80 at a high rate of speed when she lost control of the car, side-swiping a gray Pontiac, then rear-ending a gray Nissan, according to the release. The Infiniti rolled over due to the impact with the vehicles, although the drivers and passengers of those vehicles refused medical treatment, police said.

James was taken to Advocate South Suburban Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the release. Roundtree was also taken to South Suburban Hospital for non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

Roundtree was scheduled to appear at the Markham courthouse Tuesday, according to jail records.
