Target is set to open a 128,000-square-foot store in the Town of Firestone after purchasing an 11-acre site just north of Denver.

The new store, scheduled to open in 2026, will offer a mix of general merchandise and grocery items, featuring designated areas for customers to collect their online orders.

“This is a great example of the kind of strategic investment our Board of Trustees believes is critical to our long-term success,” Firestone Town Manager A.J. Krieger said.

“It’s really been a privilege to work in such a cooperative way with Target. Attracting quality retailers like Target is a critical component of our plans to grow in a value-added way and creates additional opportunities. Target has been a great partner, and we’re excited for them to be a part of our community.”

Weld County public records show the retail giant purchased the vacant land at the southwest corner of Jake Jabs Boulevard and City Centre Road for nearly $4 million in April.

It will be directly west of Home Depot within the Firestone City Centre development, which is overseen by The Staenberg Group.

Firestone and Target began conversations about this project in 2022 at the national ICSC conference in Las Vegas. Then, toward the end of last year, the town announced that it had entered into a development agreement with the Firestone Urban Renewal Authority and Target Corporation.

Site work on the property has already begun, and construction is anticipated to start this month. The general contractor is Roche Constructors Inc., and the architect is RSP Architects Ltd.

Firestone is experiencing growing interest in new retail, dining and housing developments. Recent projects include Firestone Junction, a 300-unit apartment complex by Blackburn Communities, along with a new Chick-fil-A and Panda Express scheduled to open later this year in the area.
