The U.K.’s endangered turtle dove population is making a remarkable recovery, thanks in large part to a recent hunting ban. The Guardian reports that after declining by 98% since the 1990s, the population grew by 25% across Western Europe since a 2021 ban on shooting the birds in key countries along their migration routes, such as France, Spain and Portugal. Conservation efforts in the U.K., including habitat support from over 400 landowners, have also been key to the recovery.<div></div><br>
