Nuggets assistant coach Ryan Bowen is set to replace Andre Miller as head coach of the G League affiliate Grand Rapids Gold next season, team sources told The Denver Post.

Miller is leaving on his own terms to pursue other coaching opportunities, one source told The Post. He coached the Gold for the last three seasons.

Bowen, 49, has been on the Nuggets’ sideline since 2015, when Michael Malone brought him to Denver from Sacramento. A former Iowa Hawkeyes standout, he was drafted in the second round of the 1998 draft by Denver and played five seasons for the Nuggets. Bowen went on to play for the Houston Rockets, New Orleans Hornets and Oklahoma City Thunder as well, before joining George Karl’s staff back in Denver in 2011.

He takes over a Grand Rapids squad that went 15-19 last season.

The Gold will also appoint Chad Iske as general manager to replace Ben Tenzer, who recently took over as Nuggets executive vice president of basketball operations, a source said. Iske is another former Denver assistant coach who’s been a pro scout for the franchise since 2022.
