Class 5A second round

No. 2 Broomfield 3,

No. 15 Chatfield 1

At Elizabeth Kennedy Stadium, the Eagles were in playoff form with a no-nonsense victory against the upstart Chargers, getting goals from Bella Ganiere, Reagan Kotschau and Michaela McGowan. Emerson DeLuca, Macee McKenna and McGowan all recorded assists and Stella Roane had four saves in victory.

Broomfield will face No. 10 ThunderRidge Monday night (5 p.m.) at Trailblazer Stadium in Lakewood for the quarterfinals.

No. 14 Fairview 1,

No. 3 Legacy 0

Fairview did not see Rocky Mountain this year in Front Range League play, but the teams will meet in an unlikely 14-vs.-11 matchup after both squads logged upsets in round two. For the Knights, Malia Shelin’s goal off an Elori Crosby feed stood as the winner Friday, while Alyson Campbell pitched a shutout.

Fairview and Rocky Mountain will match up at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Trailblazer Stadium in Lakewood.

Class 4A second round

No. 4 Mead 1,

No. 13 Thompson Valley 0

The Mavericks were forced to play on back-to-back nights because of weather delays, but it didn’t faze the squad as Maddie Wright’s first-half goal stood as the winner for the hosts against a formidable Eagles team. Friday Mead beat Discovery Canyon by a 2-1 count thanks to goals from Andrea Higgins and Averi Williams.

Mead (15-2) moves on to play another familiar opponent — No. 5 seed Windsor — on Tuesday. Windsor won at Mead on April 24, 2-1.

No. 7 Evergreen 1,

No. 10 Erie 1 (Evergreen wins on penalties, 4-3)

It may be considered the worst way of a team to lose in the playoffs, but the Tigers swallowed the tough pill that was falling to the Cougars on penalties in the 4A second round. Ava McGehan, a sophomore, scored the regulation goal for EHS, while freshman McKenzie Paul did all she could in goal with six saves.

Erie finished 9-5-3.

Class 3A first and second rounds

No. 1 Jefferson Academy 8, No. 17 Roaring Fork 1

The Jaguars cruised through a pair of wins Friday and Saturday, the latter a pullaway victory over the Rams after JA led 3-0 at half. On Friday, the top-seeded team poured in 16 goals against an overmatched Regis Groff.

The Jaguars will host No. 8 Liberty Common on Tuesday.

No. 2 Vail Mountain 3,

No. 15 Peak to Peak 0

After beating Englewood by a 3-0 count on Friday to open 3A play, the Pumas could not generate the same scoring opportunities against a tough Gore Rangers team the improved to 13-1.

Peak to Peak ended at 7-7-2.

No. 4 Prospect Ridge 4,

No. 13 Frontier Academy 0

With its win against Frontier Academy, Prospect Ridge completed the all-chalk 3A bracket in which all of the top eight seeds advanced to the quarter- finals.

Kateri Trujillo scored a goal and added two assists, and PRA had three other scorers in the second-round win, which backed up against a 10-0 drubbing of Arrupe Jesuit on Friday. Goalie Ava Stockard had a stout defense in front of her both games, as she needed to make just one save in 140 minutes of play to grab a pair of shutouts.

Prospect Ridge will host Colorado Academy, the 5 seed, on Tuesday in Broomfield.

Class 2A first and second rounds

No. 5 Fountain Valley 7,

No. 4 Dawson 0

The Mustangs worked for a 2-1 win over Telluride in Round 1, but it was tough sledding against the Danes on Saturday. Dawson finished the season 13-4.
