Environmental fair scheduled at library
The town library at 110 Tunstead Ave. is planning to hold a “sustainability fair” on Saturday.
The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the library lawn. It will highlight local organizations involved in sustainability efforts and include a noon presentation by Marin Sanitary Service.
The fair also will include games, booths, baked goods for sale and Earth Day projects by students at Archie Williams High School.
MILL VALLEY
Board will review construction plan
The county has scheduled a public hearing on a residential expansion plan in Homestead Valley.
The project at 19 Midway Ave. would involve building a 60-square-foot multistory addition, a deck on the first level and a deck on the second level, among other components. The project requires floor area and setback variances.
The Tamalpais Design Review Board will consider the proposal at 7 p.m. May 7 at the Homestead Valley Community Center at 315 Montford Ave.
NOVATO
DUI crackdown set for this week
The Police Department plans to conduct a traffic checkpoint Friday to screen for intoxicated drivers.
The department did not disclose the start and end times, but previous checkpoints have run from 6 p.m. to about midnight.
Staffing for the checkpoint is being funded through state and federal grant programs.
