Petaluma 7, Napa 3: The Trojans took care of the Grizzlies in their Vine Valley Athletic League opener Tuesday for their third straight win and fourth over their last five games.

Petaluma (8-2, 1-0) led 3-0 after one and 6-0 before Napa (2-7-1, 0-1) scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Aiden Jones had two hits, including a double, and scored two runs for the Trojans, while Rowan Ball doubled with an RBI. Aidan Wirtz, Harlan Barry and Grady Dilena each also added an RBI and Dalton Deadman tripled with a run scored.

Kalvin Okamura won his fifth game of the season, striking out seven with a walk, five hits and three unearned runs allowed in 4 2/3 innings. Ben Vollmer finished things off with 2 1/3 scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

For Napa, Drew Herbert had three hits, including a double, and Rocco Capponi had two hits with an RBI.

The Trojans will go for the series sweep Thursday at home.

Vintage 10, Sonoma Valley 1: The Crushers snapped the Dragons’ winning streak in the first game of VVAL play behind a solid day at the plate and on the mound.

Vintage (5-4, 1-0) racked up 15 hits on the day and scored three runs in each of the second, fourth and sixth innings. Riley Marek tripled with two RBIs, Sam Mautner doubled with three RBIs, Peter Hurd had three hits with an RBI, Blake Porter had three hits and scored two runs and Abe Shweiky had two hits with an RBI.

Wyatt Rohrs, meanwhile, was in control on the bump, going the distance on just 73 pitches with four strikeouts, no walks and six hit allowed.

For Sonoma Valley (5-3, 0-1), Chris Murphy went 3-for-3.

The two teams will round out their series Thursday night at Sonoma Valley.

American Canyon 10, Concord 9: The Wolves emerged victorious in a back-and-forth battle with the Bears on Tuesday in a fun nonleague matchup.

American Canyon (5-6) trailed 5-1 after two innings but scored six runs in the third to go on top. Concord (4-5) responded with runs over the next two innings to retake the lead at 9-8 after six before the Wolves went back ahead in the bottom of the sixth on RBI singles from Matt Schmaling and Ollin Negrete.

Offensively, Andre Lopez led the way with a 3-for-4 day with an RBI, Gabe Palma had two RBIs with a double and Royce Hall had two hits and scored two runs.

Mike Terrell was also key out of the bullpen, holding Concord scoreless over the final two innings.

The Wolves faced Pittsburg in another nonleague game Wednesday before starting VVAL play next week against Casa Grande.

St. Helena 10, Upper Lake 0 (5 innings): The Saints run-ruled the Cougars on Tuesday in their NCL I opener.

St. Helena (6-5, 1-0) took early control with seven runs in the second inning.

Oli Harvey tripled with three RBIs, Kai Blasingame had two hits, including a double, with an RBI and Adam Herdell, Henry Ray, Dean Sommer, Charlie Blaum and Cole Joy had an RBI apiece.

On the mound, Joy and Huck Anderson combined to strike out nine with just one walk and one hit allowed.

The Saints are back in action Friday at Upper Lake.

Technology 6, Tomales 5: The Titans rallied for a dramatic NCL II win over the Braves on Tuesday.

Down 5-4 in the top of the seventh, Maximus Spolini tied the game with a single before Henry Kim put Technology (2-3, 1-2) on top with an RBI single.

Tyler Scullion then navigated out of a high-stress situation in the bottom of the seventh inning and ended the game with the tying run on third. He earned the win with four strikeouts, three hits and a run allowed over three innings out of the bullpen. Damian Padilla struck out nine with two hits and four unearned runs allowed over four innings for a no-decision.

Offensively, Kim also doubled and finished with two RBIs and Padilla drove in a pair of runs on a hit.

Next up, the Titans will play at Lower Lake on Monday.

Grace Christian Academy 20, Potter Valley 1 (5 innings): The Lions stayed perfect on the year with another lopsided win, this one over the Bearcats to open NCL III action on Monday.

Jerome Swehla hit a grand slam in a three-hit day with four RBIs, Ty Trabucco had four hits, including a double, with five RBIs and Gio Cabrera also homered in a three-hit day with a pair of RBIs to lead offensive attack for Grace Christian (4-0, 1-0).

The Lions have outscored teams 55-3 to open the season.

They’ll look to keep their strong start going Thursday when they host Cornerstone Christian in a nonleague meeting.
