No. 4 Clayton Valley Charter 20, No. 5 Windsor 19: The Jaguars battled but fell on the road to the Ugly Eagles on a late field goal with 30 seconds left to see their season come to a close Friday night in the first round of the North Coast Section Division 2 playoffs.

Windsor (6-5) led 19-10 after a short field goal early in the fourth quarter, but Clayton Valley Charter (6-5) responded quickly, Fresno State commit Jhadis Luckey breaking free for an 80-yard touchdown to make it 19-17 with seven minutes to play.

Windsor was forced to punt on its next possession and the Ugly Eagles killed the clock with a long drive that stalled out inside the Jaguars’ 20. They drilled a go-ahead 35-yard field goal to take the lead with under a minute to play.

Clayton Valley Charter led 10-6 at halftime before Windsor rallied to go ahead. Fernando Lopez caught a touchdown to make it 14-10 and then Semere Berhe blocked a punt for a safety to extend the Jaguars’ lead to 16-10. Windsor’s field goal to open the fourth made it 19-10.

Jaguars quarterback Carter Vose III passed for 143 yards on 15-of-27 attempts with two touchdowns — one to Lopez and the other to Berhe.

“Just so proud of all our players and administration and staff for how hard they worked this year,” Windsor head coach DJ Sexton said. “I think a lot of people overlooked us this year and we played really well against a lot of really good teams. Just proud of what we’re building and continuing to build.”

8-person Division 2

No. 1 Elsie Allen 36, No. 4 Potter Valley 20: The Lobos will get another chance at a section title after topping the Bearcats on Friday night to reach the Division 2 championship round in eight-person play.

Elsie broke out to a 24-6 halftime lead in Friday’s game in Santa Rosa behind a pair of touchdown passes from quarterback Nicholas Lobato — the first to Alexander Sanchez and the second to Angel Ayon.

The Lobos also had three TDs on the ground — a 45-yard run from Edwin Vargas to open the scoring and a pair of fourth-quarter scores, from Eugene Vulisuva and Ayon.

Lobato finished with 275 yards passing and the two touchdowns through the air. Ayon totaled 126 yards receiving and Sanchez led the ground game with 102 yards. Elsie’s Uriel Pacheco also had kickoff returns of 42 and 38 yards to put the Lobos in good field position.

Now, Elsie Allen will turn its attention to his Friday’s championship game against third-seeded Cornerstone Christian.

The Cougars defeated the Lobos 84-78 in a thrilling NCS championship game at their East Bay home last year, but Elsie Allen will be hosting this year’s contest in Santa Rosa.
