I would like to use this forum to personally thank the leadership of our White Sox, from the ownership to Rick Hahn to Tony La Russa and the entire roster, for a very exciting season. I know this team can make a very deep run in the playoffs. The best is yet to come!

Tuesday night atSandburg High was senior night to honor senior soccer players and their parents. It turned out to be a special night for children and adults with special needs from the Navarro farm. You could see the happiness on all 30 faces.
Hats off to the administration, coaches, teachers and volunteers that organized this and made it happen.

There are many sides to issues. The Cook County treasurer espouses generational wealth from parents passing homes to their children. Where were the liberal Democrats in 1970?
My grandmother paid off the mortgage on her two-flat in Roseland, a poor, multiethnic but great and functional neighborhood with a vibrant commercial district. Our neighborhood was sacrificed to the greed of banks, real estate agents and politicians. The average income of the neighborhood hasn’t changed, just the behavior of those who replaced us in the 1970s.

Last week, whenI was shopping at Jewel in Hickory Hills, there were two Roberts Park fire department ambulances in the parking lot. I was wondering if they were shopping for the elderly in Hickory Hills that can’t get out and shop for themselves?

In his comment Sept. 23, Jim of Mokena seems to find some equivalence between the murder of thugs who commit shootings on our area expressways and the appearance of drag queens at the Pride Fest in Joliet. For most of history, drag queens, gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transsexuals have been the consistent victims of violence. I can recall when I was a freshman football player in high school, the seniors on the team would get together and plan how they were going to go to Old Town over the weekend and roll “queers.”
By and large, drag queens as they pursue their lifestyle don’t interfere with anybody else’s, whereas people roaring up and down our expressways with guns put us all at risk.

Reading the Speak Out section of the Southtown is something I shake my head at. I did not realize that it has become the Q-section of the paper.

Every day you hear our socialist Democrats mandating for us little people need to wear masks. Seems like every day these same socialist Democrats are caught not wearing the masks they’re mandating us to comply. How can anyone take these socialist Democrats seriously?
Bob, Frankfort
M from Monee, I would suggest you do some of your own research before you start accusing politicians of not knowing what they’re speaking of concerning masks and vaccinations. Please find the research that proves that masks works. You can’t. Early on, even Fauci said they didn’t work.
These viral particles go right through the fashion-statement masks. And (with) the paper masks, you’re inhaling paper fibers. How’s that working for your lungs and esophagus?

To D. inChicago: Your ideas on the causes of crime are spot-on. Video games like Grand Theft Auto contribute to influencing young people. So do movies that glorify violence as a solution to conflicts.
Finally, some blame goes to parents of these young people for not teaching good morals or work ethics. Employment would keep them busy and help lift them out of poverty.

I came up with a headline for your newspaper. There used to be an old saying a job’s pay for a day worked. It’s in the Bible too.
There are a lot of people walking the street looking for an honest day’s work and pay so they can feed their family. You can’t argue with someone who does (to) the best of their ability, but some people don’t even bother to show up and expect you to pay them.

To Marv of Bridgeview, I realize you don’t believe in God, but please don’t mock those of us that do.
