Cabrillo College’s baseball team had two sophomores, pitcher/first baseman Oscar Knapp and catcher Kaiden Hoapili, receive All-NorCal honors.

Knapp, a Santa Cruz alum who is committed to Biola University, batted .345 (39 for 113) with eight extra-base hits, 23 RBI, and 18 runs scored. On the mound, Knapp rebounded from a slow nonconference slate and posted a 4-2 record in conference with a 2.65 ERA and 1.42 WHIP over 37.1 innings. He averaged a strikeout per inning.

Hoapili, out of Prospect High in Saratoga, batted .329 (54 for 164) with seven extra-base hits, 11 stolen bases, 36 RBI, 28 runs scored.

The playoff-bound Seahawks, the third-place finisher in the Coast Conference South Division, had six other players named to the all-conference team.

Freshman outfielder Diego Grabiel, a Santa Cruz alum, sophomore reliever Christian Trejo, a Grapevine, Texas, alum, and freshman outfielder Jayson Schmeisser, out of Sierra Vista High in Las Vegas, were named to the first team.

Freshman infielder Carlos Cruz Mar, a Harbor alum, and freshman pitcher Anthony Sullivan, a Sobrato alum, were named to the second team.

Cabrillo freshman pitcher Brady Liden, a Colfax alum, was an honorable mention selection.

Hartnell freshman infielder John Clinkenbeard, a San Lorenzo Valley alum, was also named to the first team.

Ohlone sophomore first baseman/left-handed pitcher Will Anderson, a Christopher alum who is committed to Santa Clara University, was named the South Division’s Player of the Year.

Monterey Peninsula right-hander Fabio Bundi, a freshman out of Basel-Landschaft, Switzerland, was named the Pitcher of the Year.

West Valley’s Bobby Hill was named Coach of the Year.

The No. 21 seed Seahawks (18-21 overall) will open the playoffs against No. 4 Feather River (31-9) in Quincy. Game 1 in their best-of-three series begins Friday at 2 p.m., and Game 2 starts Saturday at 2 p.m. If a third game is necessary, the teams will play again 30 minutes after Game 2 ends.

Softball

All-Coast Conference >> Cabrillo’s Bella Fromel, a sophomore outfielder out of Lake Travis High in Austin, Texas, was named to the All-Coast Conference first team.

West Valley infielder Rylee Gomez, a Watsonville alumna, was also named to the first team for the playoff-bound Vikings.

West Valley pitcher Amelia Sizemore, an SLV alumna, was an honorable mention selection.
