A proposed ban on the tush push failed on Wednesday at the NFL owners’ meetings.

The proposed prohibition of the polarizing short-yardage play failed on a 22-10 vote, which will allow QBs to continue to be aided by teammates when plunging into the line.

The Eagles brought former center Jason Kelce, one of the players who fueled the success of the tush push, to the meetings in Minnesota with owner Jeffrey Lurie to provide clarity around the play.

Also, the Lions withdrew their proposal to reseed teams for the playoffs — in order of record rather than awarding the first four spots to division winners — before a vote was taken.

The owners did approve modifications to the kickoff, which was drastically redone before last season.

NFL MVP Josh Allen will be a featured attraction this season on the league’s training camp documentary when the Bills make their first appearance on HBO’s “Hard Knocks.” The NFC East was picked as the featured division on the in-season show with filming of the Giants, Cowboys, Commanders and Eagles.

College football: The Notre Dame-Wisconsin at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin, will now have a Sunday kickoff on Sept. 6, 2026. NBC will televise the game.

NBA: Thunder G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander earned his first league MVP award, according to reports before the award was announced Wednesday night.

Tennis: The pro tours and two other defendants filed a motion in federal court to dismiss the class-action antitrust lawsuit filed by the Professional Tennis Players’ Association, a group co-founded by Novak Djokovic. The PTPA sued the ATP, WTA, International Tennis Federation and International Tennis Integrity Agency, which oversees anti-doping and anti-corruption efforts in March, calling them a “cartel.”
