Continuing their partnership to improve service efficiency, protect local waterways, and keep streets clear and safe, the city of Woodland and WM will update the Green Waste Street Pile Program schedule, begining this July.
According to a city press release, starting on July 1, all single-family residences in Woodland will receive street pile service during the first week of each month, beginning on the first Tuesday.
Residents’ regular pickup day of the week will remain the same — only the service week is changing. Weekly street sweeping will continue as usual, and weekly collection during Leaf Drop Season (November through January) will remain in place. Cart service will not change.
The Green Waste Street Pile Program helps keep residential yard waste out of storm drains and gutters, reducing the risk of flooding and preventing pollution in local waterways.
Outside of your scheduled service week, green waste piles may not be placed in the street. Instead, residents should place green waste materials in their brown-lidded organics cart, which is serviced weekly year-round.
Residents are reminded of the following Green Waste Street Pile guidelines:
Piles may not be placed in the street more than a week before your scheduled service.
Piles must not exceed 4 feet wide x 5 feet long x 4 feet high.
Branches may not exceed 6 inches in diameter or 5 feet in length.
Piles must include only clean plant material — no grass, food scraps, or food-soiled paper.
Piles may not obstruct gutters, storm drains, bike lanes, or traffic flow.
Green waste street piles are allowed for single-family residences only. Businesses and multifamily properties may not place piles in the street.
These program updates will help ensure better service consistency, minimize illegal dumping, and support the City’s compliance with state environmental regulations.
