June D. Eschmann, a Clinton Township resident of 68 years, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024. June was born June 20, 1932 in Alpena to Alfred and Hedwig Kannowski.

She was baptized on July 20, 1932 by Pastor Paul Moeller at St. Paul Lutheran with Paul and Emma Kannowski as sponsors. June attended Rockford College, Illinois and was active in the Drama Club, House Council, and Glee Club.

On June 14, 1954, she graduated with a degree in Child Development and served as an elementary teacher in Roseville, Michigan.

June was united in marriage to Walter Eschmann on June 30, 1956 at St. Paul in Alpena with the Reverend William Belk officiating. As a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Clinton Township for over 65 years, June was an example of a Christian wife, mother, friend, and neighbor. She served as St. Luke Guild President, was a leader in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, American Red Cross coordinator, President of local Aid Association for Lutherans branch, Woman of the Year for the Council of Lutheran Women, and a faithful choir member. Music was integral to her life, whether playing piano or singing aloud, June filled her home with music and song. She was an avid reader who valued the importance of education, often saying, “A day one does not learn something new, is a day unlived”.

Mrs. Eschmann is survived by her son, Robert (Rhonda) Eschmann, daughters Elizabeth (Kevin) Sergent and Sarah (Michael) D’Agostini, and grandchildren Lauren, Henry, and Francesca. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter, son Wally, sister Lucille Heilshorn, and brother Robert Kannowski.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 21400 Nunneley Road, Clinton Township, with the Reverend Roderick Schultz officiating. A visitation for June will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, Clinton Township.
