Two Gary men face charges in a recent Munster bank robbery, police said.

Jovontae Newman, 22, and Michael D. Anderson, 32 were charged Saturday with three counts each of felony robbery, according to Lake Superior Court records.

They were accused of robbing a Fifth Third Bank, 8007 Calumet Ave., on June 15. One man allegedly wore a white hazmat suit, blue hard hat and goggles, before they took off on foot.

The amount of money taken was not disclosed.

Anderson was arrested Monday, according to court records. Newman is not in custody. Bond for each man was set at $5,000 cash surety. Anderson’s next hearing is July 2.

The men are suspected in two other bank robberies in Michigan City and Winfield, Munster Police Investigations Division Commander John Peirick said in a release.
