NEW YORK >> Chicago’s Matthew Boyd won a matchup of All-Star left-handers as Max Fried left early because of yet another blister on his pitching hand, and the Cubs stopped the New York Yankees’ five-game winning streak with a 5-2 victory on Saturday.

Aaron Judge hit a two-run homer in the ninth off Brad Keller, his 35th of the season, and became the fastest player to 350 home runs. Playing his 1,088th game, Judge bettered Mark McGwire’s 1,280.

A first time All-Star, Boyd (10-3) won his fourth straight start and fifth consecutive decision, giving up four hits in eight scoreless innings with six strikeouts and no walks. He threw 62 of 85 pitches for strikes.

Mets 3, Royals 1 >> Juan Soto homered to lead the New York Mets past the Kansas City Royals 3-1 on Saturday.

Soto’s two-run shot into the right field fountains opened the scoring in the fourth. Over his last 20 games, Soto has nine home runs and 19 RBIs.

Frankie Montas (2-1) threw first-pitch strikes to 14 of 19 batters while allowing a run on four hits and striking out five.

Scheduled Royals starter Michael Lorenzen missed the game with illness.

Dodgers 2, Giants 1 >> Michael Conforto had three hits and scored twice, Shohei Ohtani took another encouraging step back on the mound in his recovery from elbow surgery and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Francisco Giants 2-1 on Saturday to end a seven-game losing streak.

Ohtani threw three scoreless innings in his longest outing in a Dodgers uniform since signing with the team in 2023. Ohtani, who did not pitch last season 2024, threw 36 pitches, allowed one hit and had four strikeouts.

The two-way Japanese star was also the Dodgers’ designated hitter and batted leadoff. He went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts.

Rafael Devers had a sacrifice fly for San Francisco.

Braves 7, Cardinals 6 >> Sean Murphy, Ronald Acuña Jr. and Marcell Ozuna homered and the Atlanta Braves rallied against St. Louis’ two top relievers to beat the Cardinals 7-6 on Saturday.

Nacho Alvarez Jr., filling in for injured third baseman Austin Riley, singled twice and scored the winning run on Jurickson Profar’s ninth-inning groundout against closer Ryan Helsley (3-1).

Murphy, who hit the two longest home runs of this season at Busch Stadium on Friday night, put the Braves ahead 6-5 with a high drive that cleared the glove of José Fermín as he leaped at the left-field wall in the eighth. The three-run shot was Murphy’s 16th homer of the season and the first allowed by reliever Phil Maton in 37 appearances this season.

Twins 12, Pirates 4 >> All-Star center fielder Byron Buxton hit for the cycle on his bobblehead day, completing it with a solo home run in the seventh inning, and the Minnesota Twins routed the Pittsburgh Pirates 12-4 on Saturday.

Buxton hit a single in the first inning, a triple in the second and a double in the third. He singled again in the fifth before stepping to the plate in the seventh for one more chance at the first cycle ever at Target Field, which opened in 2010.

Facing Pirates reliever Andrew Heaney, Buxton hit a solo homer 427 feet to center field to complete the cycle — and send Target Field into a frenzy. His timing was perfect, too: Saturday’s giveaway at the stadium was a Buxton bobblehead of his “Buck Truck” home run celebration.

mariners 15, Tigers 7 >> Randy Arozarena homered and scored four times as the Seattle Mariners defeated the Detroit Tigers 15-7 on Saturday.

Arozarena singled and scored in the second, was hit by a pitch and scored on Luke Raley’s homer in the third, and singled and scored in the seventh before hitting a two-run homer in the eighth.

Tigers All-Star Casey Mize (9-3) allowed six runs in three innings, one day after the Mariners beat Detroit’s other All-Star starter, Tarik Skubal.

The Tigers took a 1-0 lead on Riley Greene’s first-inning sacrifice fly, but Mize couldn’t hold it.

Dominic Canzone tied it with an RBI single in the second before the Mariners scored five runs in the third.

Marlins 6, Orioles 0 >> Janson Junk allowed five hits over seven innings to prevail in a pitcher’s duel with former Marlins standout Trevor Rogers, Derek Hill drove in two runs and Xavier Edwards homered to help Miami beat the Baltimore Orioles 6-0 on Saturday.

Dane Myers had two hits and scored a run for the Marlins, who cranked up their offense in the latter innings after being held to one single by Rogers through the sixth.

Junk (4-1) walked none and struck out two in the longest outing of his career. The right-hander had only two perfect innings, but repeatedly came up with the right pitch when it mattered.

Reds 4, Rockies 3 >> Will Benson tied it in the ninth inning with an RBI triple and scored on second baseman Orlando Arcia’s fielding error to give the Cincinnati Reds a 4-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday.

Spencer Steer opened the inning with single off Victor Vodnik (3-3) and scored on Benson’s triple that nearly went out. Noelvi Marte — who earlier homered for the second straight game — then hit a ball to second that Arcia bobbled.

Brewers 6, Nationals 5 >> Caleb Durbin hit an RBI single with one out in the ninth inning to cap a three-run rally and give Milwaukee a 6-5 victory over the Washington Nationals on Saturday, the Brewers sixth consecutive victory.

Jackson Chourio singled to open the ninth against Kyle Finnegan (1-3), who came on to open the inning. Christian Yelich walked on four pitches and Andrew Vaughn followed with a two-run double to right-center to make it 5-all.

Pinch-runner Andruw Monasterio took third on a groundout. Brice Turang was walked intentionally and advanced to second on defensive indifference. Durbin then sliced a singled down the right-field line.

Guardians 6, White Sox 2 >> Kyle Manzardo hit a tiebreaking home run and All-Star Steven Kwan drove in two runs to help the Cleveland Guardians beat the Chicago White Sox 6-2 on Saturday.

Manzardo’s solo shot in the sixth off reliever Jordan Leasure (2-5) gave the Guardians a 3-2 lead and helped Tanner Bibee secure his first win since May 22.

Kwan had a sacrifice fly in the seventh, and he and Jose Ramirez added RBI singles in the ninth as Cleveland won for the fifth time in six games.
