Margaret Therese Massey, animal lover and adventurer, died May 3, 2025 in Boulder, CO after a brief illness. Born October 4, 1943 in Washington, DC to John Curran Massey and Dorothy Marmaduke Massey, Margaret approached life with love and intensity. She was loved and was loved by everybody.

While most of her family remained in the Washington, D.C. area, Margaret forged her own path, living in New York, then Colorado, where she loved and grew her own family of numerous friends and confidants. There Margaret was able to bask in her love of the outdoors and nature, especially long walks on the "front range."

Margaret was passionate about animals, always had animals near her, even until the very end. Her dog Barnabas was her most faithful companion, and as Margaret said, "They crept along together."

She loved and took care of him until he died.

Margaret loved family.

She was the beloved mother of the late Brian Paul Beidelman, and spoiled him rotten on purpose.

Margaret always had a bunch of enthusiasms.

She read the newspapers assiduously, and was always passing along books or recommendations. She would stay up all night reading if she got hooked on a book.

Margaret loved the Peanuts, Charlie Brown and the whole cast of characters. She never missed a cartoon.

Throughout her international travels, moves and until the end of her life, "Auntie M" sent postcards documenting her adventures and cards for holidays to all the young people in her life. Despite their geographic distance, Margaret and Mary Ann talked via phone almost every night, not long conversations, but always had a laugh.

We will always remember Margaret's passion and sense of humor. Margaret was intense about everything, and intensely funny. She made everyone laugh around her, and managed to find humor in everything, even in Trump.

Margaret is survived by her big sister, Mary Ann Massey and her faithful friends from 10th street.

Margaret was the sister of the late twins, Joseph Curran Aloysius Massey and Michael Francis Massey; the late Paul Anthony Massey (Sue); the late Timothy Peter Massey (Carol); and the late Regina Marie Massey.

Margaret was also the proud aunt of Jennifer Massey Miller; Carrie Massey Keene (Joshua); Amanda Massey Mattea (Trevor), Peter Anthony (Sarah), Matthew Paul (Eleanor), and Kristin Massey Hanchey (Trey), and the late Michael Edward Massey.

She was also the proliferate pen pal to numerous great-nephews and nieces and cousins.
