Patrick Kevin Murphy, “Pat”, husband and dear friend of Rita Mantegani Murphy, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025, with Rita and their children, Patrick and Kelly, at his bedside.

Pat had spent the previous six weeks enjoying the company of Patrick and Kelly, Patrick’s wife Joanna Murphy and their children Regan, age 12 and Kayleigh, age 9, as well as Kelly’s husband Jonathan Marcel and their children Jonathan, age 4 and Connor, age 2.

Pat was born on February 21, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Loyola University, Chicago and went on to attend the FBI Academy, working as a Special Agent for 27 years. After leaving the FBI, Pat took a position with Charles Schwab in their Fraud Investigation Unit. In his retirement years, Pat was active in the Marin District Attorney’s Elder Abuse Prevention Program and was a member of the Marin Financial Abuse Specialist Team (FAST), which assists in investigating complex cases of elder financial abuse. In this capacity, he often spoke and counseled Marin seniors about fraud avoidance.

Faith and family were of utmost importance to Pat, and he was deeply involved with his church and much loved by all who knew him.

In addition to his immediate family, Pat is survived by his sisters, Kathy Kozlowski and her husband, Bill, of Sarasota, Florida, and Joan Kane of Chicago, as well as many nieces and nephews. He also is survived by his sister-in-law, Pamela Love, of San Rafael. Pat was predeceased by his brother, Raymond Murphy.

A funeral service Mass will be held at Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church in Novato on February 21, 2025, at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of Pat’s favorite charities, Wounded Warriors or Doctors Without Borders.
