The date for Coach Prime’s third spring game in Boulder has been set.

On Friday, Colorado athletic director Rick George and head football coach Deion Sanders announced that the 2025 spring football game, which is part of Black & Gold Day, has been set for April 19 at Folsom Field.

The game time and broadcast information will be announced at a later time. Tickets will go on sale in mid-February.

The two most highly attended spring games at CU have come under Coach Prime. In 2023, a sold-out crowd of 47,277 filled Folsom Field on a snowy day. In 2024, 28,424 fans braved the rain to watch the Buffs.

Spring practices will begin on March 11. There will be two weeks of practices before the Buffs take a week off for spring break (March 24-28) and then return for three more weeks of practice.

Coach Prime is entering his third season at CU, having gone 13-12 to this point. After taking over a team that went 1-11 in 2022, Sanders led the Buffs to 4-8 in 2023 and a jump to 9-4 with an appearance in the Alamo Bowl this past season.

While Sanders returns, it will be a new era of sorts for the Buffs, as several stars are moving on, including Heisman Trophy-winning cornerback/receiver Travis Hunter and quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

So far, CU has 30 newcomers, including 17 from the transfer portal and 13 from the high school ranks.

Spring will feature several position battles, particularly at quarterback, where Liberty transfer Kaidon Salter and incoming freshman Julian Lewis will compete with returning redshirt sophomore Ryan Staub.
