I filled up my gas tank Oct. 4, for $4.09 a gallon. On Oct. 5, OPEC slashes oil production by 2 millions barrels a day to begin in November. Today gas is $4.59 a gallon. Here we go again. And Biden controls the high price of gas?

What happens to parents who raise their children until they are teenagers? Then they give up and let them join gangs and commit crimes. They are afraid of their own children. Problem of shootings, carjacking and disrespect of someone’s life.

Mr. G, Chicago

This is a response to Guy from Oak Lawn saying a partner has no say if a woman wants an abortion. How does he know? How does he know it was not the man who insisted on getting an abortion, like Hershel Walker said, or how does he know it wasn’t a mutual agreement? Until you know everything don’t be putting your opinion out.

PT, Oak Lawn

Guy from Oak Lawn, I totally agree with you about dogs and people. I actually have a shirt that says dogs make my heart smile, humans make my head hurt.

Linda, Orland Park

Normally I like to recycle my newspaper but in the case of the Will County Gazette I have to make and exception. I throw it away in the trash with the rest of the garbage.

All these people screaming about gun control and we’re going to sue the gun manufacturers. These last two gunshots victims I heard about in Chicago, a mother who leaves a loaded gun where her 2-year-old son could get it and shoots himself in the face. And in West Lawn some idiots out of a red car start shooting into a car full of a mother and her three kids. Now, what does Smith & Wesson have to do with that? We got to start looking at the real problem here.

Tom, Burbank

It’s clear to me that, at least when it comes to Speak Out comments, many people should heed the advice, if you don’t have anything good to say, don’t say anything at all. Don’t you wonder if these repeat whiners ever get tired of complaining?

George, now you say the Sox have no chemistry. As a Sox fan since I was 5 (now 81), I believe the Sox are loaded with talent. Some of the players came up too soon. They do have fire, it’s just not consistent. They had more than their share of injuries. Hey, the Sox finished in 2nd place, and a lot of their wins were late innings comebacks. I am proud of Chicago’s professional sports teams’ history, especially since 1985 to the present.

Carl, Calumet Park

White Sox updates. Ozzie Guillen is foaming at the mouth to manage again for the White Sox. He would not demand a high salary. Reinsdorf would like that. What the Sox need is a good doctor and players who can play hurt.

Mr. G, Chicago

RHS, you are clearly an election denier, a died-in-the-wool supporter of the big lie of Donald Trump. Anything you say after that has absolutely no credibility with anyone who lives here on Earth One.

Paul, Tinley Park

Anyone who believes Trump’s lying rally count analysis may as well buy a bridge from him that he would be more than happy to sell you. Obama filled the area in front of the Capitol at his inauguration and Trump only half way as shown and proved by aerial photos, yet Trump claims he had twice as many as he continued to lie and inflate the rally and supporter numbers for his ego. Many of the seven million more actual votes Biden got came from Republicans Trump drove away.

Carl, Orland Park

Trump stole classified top secret materials from our government, which is to say from us. He was given a request to return everything, but since he did not a search warrant retrieved the stolen property for us. Now Trump is calling the items his and wants them returned to him. What? Does that mean any common bank robber can steal other people’s money, fail to return it and upon retrieval by officials call that money his and demand it’s returned to him? Give me a break.

Kathy, Tinley Park

It appears Donald Trump is living in a consequence-free environment and the fact that none of the other Republicans will open their mouths to deny and denounce all of the hateful racist garbage coming from his mouth tells you everything you need to know about Republicans. Anyone who votes for them has got to be out of their mind. Do you want to lose our country to a dictator like Trump? Good grief people, wake up.

JK, Tinley Park

To S from Oak Lawn, you also failed to mention under Trump an insurrection, lies, lies and more lies, letting COVID-19 run rampant while denying it existed which caused huge unemployment. Being racist, causing a great divide in the country, conning people out of their money and fundraising on his giant election lie. Under Trump, the federal deficit rise more than any other president. And let’s not forget taking classified documents home. His days are numbered as the walls and soon-to-be prosecution is closing in on his fairy tale world.

Chuck, Manhattan

Chicagoans expected a mayor’s property tax increase in 2023. But Mayor Lightfoot announced she won’t try to raise property taxes next year in her ‘23 budget after all. Sounds great but don’t hold your breath. Keywords are, try to. I’ll bet a shiny, new dime she’ll find some other tax to cover the costs of her wanting Chicago to be a sanctuary city.
