



A recap of Saturday’s games in the CIF Southern Section softball playoffs.
LA MIRADA 12, ROOSEVELT 4: The Matadores raced to a 6-0 lead in the second inning and finished with 15 hits in the Division 1 playoff game.
The Matadores (25-4) will be home for Wednesday’s game against Ayala in the quarterfinals.
Angelie Kennedy was 3 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs and Riley Hilliard had three hits, including a home run and a double.
Angelyna Conde had two hits and two RBIs. Megan Avila had two hits and an RBI.
Sophomore pitcher Alison Ortega went 5 1/3 innings, allowed eight hits and four runs.
LA SERNA 4, REDONDO 2: Karina Torres threw five shutout innings for the Lancers (18-10) in the Division 2 playoff game.
The Lancers will be at Los Alamitos for the quarterfinals Wednesday.
La Serna scored three runs in the fifth inning to take a 4-0 lead.
The Lancers’ Mikaela Galicia was 2 for 3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Aubrie Baruch drove in a run with a double and Madison Corral had an RBI single.
CALIFORNIA 3, CAPISTRANO VALLEY CHRISTIAN 0: Pitcher Alexis Salas allowed three hits and had six strikeouts to lead the top-seeded Condors (21-9) to the Division 2 victory.
They will be on the road Wednesday against Great Oak in the quarterfinals.
The Condors’ Pricilla Ramirez, pitched a perfect seventh inning to close it out.
The Condors, who reached the Division 2 title game last season, scored all three of their runs in the fifth inning.
Emily Olguin’s sacrifice scored Bella Esparza and Hailey Chavolla drove in two runs with a triple.
Mia Martinez contributed two hits.
GANESHA 4, MILLIKAN 0: The Giants scored two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth, and senior Isabella Lopez tossed a four-hit shutout with nine strikeouts.
The Giants (24-4-1) will be at Santa Margarita for the Division 2 quarterfinals Wednesday.
The Giants’ Nevaeh Wilson was 2 for 3 with an RBI and two stolen bases. Jules Alberto doubled in two runs in the fifth inning to give them a 4-0 cushion.
LOS ALAMITOS 7, WHITTIER CHRISTIAN 3: The Griffins (18-12) put five runs on the board in the fifth inning as they defeated the Heralds (21-8) in a Division 2 second-round game.
Rylee Cull belted a solo homer for the Heralds in the fifth inning to cut the Griffins’ lead to 5-1.
Ali Plimpton’s double in the sixth drove in a run to cut the Griffins’ lead to three runs.
Heralds senior pitcher Bobbie Lozano lasted 4 2/3 innings, allowed six hits and six runs with four strikeouts.
ST. PAUL 6, ALTA LOMA 2: Kailee Mejia was 3 for 3 with an RBI and Eveny Gomez doubled in two runs to lead the Swordsmen to a win in the Division 3 playoffs.
St. Paul will be home against Marina in the quarterfinals Wednesday.
Aleena Gutierrez drove in two runs and Daina Munoz had two hits for the Swordsmen (14-14).
Freshman pitcher Gianelle Napoles threw a complete game, allowed nine hits with six strikeouts.
INDIO 4, NORTHVIEW 2: The Vikings (20-9-1) lost in the second round of the Division 4 playoffs after committing seven errors in the loss.
The Rajas scored twice in the first and added runs in the fourth and seventh innings. None of the runs were earned.
Vikings pitcher Clementina Duran went the distance, allowed four hits with two strikeouts.
Duran’s triple drove in one of the Vikings’ runs. Marilyn Sandoval doubled in a run and also scored.
CANTWELL SACRED HEART 2, SOUTH PASADENA 1: The Cardinals’ Maraya Hernandez smacked an RBI single in the first inning and Alyssa Ochoa drove in a run with a double in the third.
The Cardinals (12-9) will be home against University in the Division 6 quarterfinals Wednesday.
Ochoa also pitched and gave up six hits with nine strikeouts.
Emma Becerra drove in the only run for the Tigers (15-9).
EL MONTE 9, GAREY 7: The Lions (12-7) raced to a 4-0 lead after two innings and led 9-3 after five innings in the second round of the Division 7 playoffs.
The Lions will be home against Westminster in the quarterfinals Wednesday.
Lions sophomore Victoria Valdez was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs.
