With hockey season in the books, coaches from the Macomb Area Conference convened to wrap up the campaign by handing out awards and superlatives for the campaign.
The MAC White MVP and Mr. Hockey award went to Marysville’s Ben LaValley. The Viking racked up 50 points in 25 games this season, scoring 29 goals with 21 assists for Marysville.
The MAC Red MVP honors went to Chippewa Valley Unified’s Nate Hall and the MAC Blue MVP is Case Vansingel from Port Huron.
Coach of the Year honors went to Eisenhower’s Dave Erwin (MAC Red), St. Clair Shores’ Nick Radjewski (White) and Port Huron’s Ben Pionk (Blue).
Additionally, they handed out sportsmanship awards to Utica-Fraser in the Red, L’Anse Creuse Unified in the White and Port Huron and Grosse Pointe North shared the award in the Blue.
The league also voted on ending the three-league structure and going down to just two for next season — a MAC Red and a MAC White.
