


The Davis Police Department has continued its investigation from the shooting incident that occurred in Community Park on Picnic Day on April 12.
Detectives were able to identify 19-year-old Joseph Davis, of Sacramento, as a suspect who is believed to have been involved in the shooting, according to a Davis PD Facebook post.
The post also reported that this week, Davis PD detectives, with the assistance of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, served a search and arrest warrant at Davis’ residence in Sacramento. A loaded firearm was located at the residence.
Davis was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon (firearm) and several firearms-related crimes, including possession of an illegal assault rifle. He was booked at the Yolo County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are continuing to work diligently to identify individuals who were involved in the shooting that injured three people.
On Saturday, April 12, three people were shot in Davis at Community Park on Picnic Day. The shooting occurred at around 2:58 p.m. while a large gathering of people was at the park. Officers were able to locate three gunshot victims and one victim who had been trampled; two teenagers and a 24-year-old. All four people were treated and transported to the hospital and were expected to survive.
