In the wake of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, Woodland for Peace invites the community to better understand the conflict at a free screening of the powerful 2023 documentary “Israelism” on Feb. 8 at 3 p.m. at the American Lutheran Church, located at 1114 College St.

Filmed prior to the events of October 2023, the film explores the reactions of two young American Jews as they witness first-hand the way Israel treats Palestinians. They were raised to unconditionally love Israel, but they are moved to join a deepening generational divide growing over modern Jewish identity.

Woodland for Peace (W4P) is an ad hoc group of Woodland-based, religious and non-religious individuals currently concerned with the fate of the Palestinian people within Israel, the West Bank, the Golan Heights, Gaza and the Diaspora. We advocate for peace in a world of many conflicts, an end to oppression and genocide and the need for human rights for all people.

Activities include:

Monthly in-person discussion groups based on readings about Palestinian history, culture, and experience.

Fundraising to benefit children in war zones, such as UNICEF and Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA), and Public Education, including free film screenings and outreach to Woodland organizations to invite participation or raise awareness.

Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. Free advance tickets are available at https://kinema.com/events/Israelism-5rypqk.
